Economists have this weird idea that without inflation, everyone would just hoard their money and the money supply would collapse. So the idea is that we need constant inflation eroding the value of the currency. The USD has lost like 99% of its value since 1913. How are generations supposed to pass on wealth?

That's the whole point - they're not supposed to do that anymore. Except for the 1% of course.

The main idea behind inflation is to keep the value of national debt somewhat in check …. But at 33 trillion …. well who knows. Western governments print more money (inflation) in order to fund national debt. I think each person in the US owes 100,000 USD now. It’s utter madness.
