One thing to consider is back then in the 70’s people were more producers than consumers. Less wasteful and reused many items. Cooking and preserving food at home. This way of living required less money to live comfortably. Today we are different we consume more and produce less for ourselves. Every thing is so convenient and disposable. Which increases our cost of living exponentially. Yes, inflation. Also people…

The problem is there’s so much more to buy now and credit is so readily available people live well beyond their means. 90% of people I know spend all their money every month, yet have expensive cars, phones, laptops, iPads and designer clothes. People used to spend less on entertainment, I had a good upbringing but we would ride bikes and go camping and eat takeout once a week as a treat, not everyday buying takeout, coffee etc. People need to stop being so materialistic and realise they can be wealthy without all the bs they blow money on. Also it’s never been easier to learn and improve your knowledge to get a better job and earn more money. I was an unskilled labourer for ten years before deciding to change my life and went into sales and now earn many times more. I’m not special at all, if I can do it anyone can.

things are unaffordable now because of interest rates! raising interest rates was needed to avoid bigger issues in the future, but in the short term people buying property/cars today are paying almost 2x what they normally word in terms of interest payments. If you bought when rates were low you would be sitting pretty right now, in combination with some affordable cars like a honda civic for you and your partner. you can easily set aside large sums of money, the people that are struggling today are mostly people with poor financial skills or unfortunate people who couldnt capitalize when times were good. The best thing people can do is wait out until rates return to manageable levels, setting as much cash aside as possible putting it into cds so it keeps up with inflation and then when the time comes using it to get into a home.

Illegal immigration aside, it is time to amend the laws on land ownership. Buying/owning land should be lawfully prohibited by those not legally living/working. Those on a work/student visa should be allowed but limited to specific sizes/acreage. Only U.S CITIZENS and legal residents (Green Card holders) should be exempt from any property and land ownership limits. China does not allow land ownership to a foreigner. Why should we allow Chinese nationals to buy land in the U.S.?

But Jaspreet you’re leaving out the fact that retailers made record profits by jacking up the prices past the cost of goods sold. This increased their margins and we as consumers call that inflationary. If the government just printed more money then it would eventually end up in retailers hands anyway, however the consumer wouldn’t be hit so hard.

How does more money in the country cause companies to increase prices, especially when they have record profits and pay for CEOs? Greed? Shouldn’t they raise prices because they have increased costs? Shouldn’t their profits be proportional to previous quarters?

You are correct! More revenue should have been recycled into the economy but instead it was stolen - If the masses were given these profits we would all have moved up in social class due to this growth in spending -but instead it increased wealth inequalities. Trickle down doesn’t work. If it did we could examine the success of those on the bottom instead of the top.

Supply and demand basics. Why should businesses act any different than an individual? Imagine if you had rare collectible baseball cards in mint condition that were worth millions of dollars that you inherited from your grandfather who bought them for five cents a pack. Would you turn around and sell those cards for a little over $10 just to cover your grandpas costs and profit ? Absolutely not you would sell them for the highest value you can get for them. This is what companies are doing today.

I think biggest problem is a lot of us want it easy. We want a lot of things for a little amount of work. Rich people are a perfect example. Working "smart" basically just means getting a lot for putting a little bit in. But in the end it doesn't work that way. A person needs to produce as much if not more than they consume. So this "smart" mentality is actually foolish because there is no such thing as getting more than you put in. Again rich people are a good example. They take all the money, but they're taking the money from "not so smart" people. Then they create class rift and conflict. It's only natural.

Instead of printing money there needs to be redistribution. The masses aren’t taught these principles because the system is based on slavery. The more slaves one has- the more wealth is generated by owners - who are in control of most everything. The masses do not have disposable income to invest. Step one is how to generate disposable income in an inflationary environment. BTW you are a great speaker and presenter - even though I don’t agree on some things based on my experience.

In the 1970s one income was tight. The family could afford a cheap house and a very used car. That was middle class. Don't bs people that the past was rosy. And most could not afford college for their children bc they had a BUNCH of kids - not one or two. That being said - deregulation by Ronald Regan, Thatcher etc allowed big business and wealthy to make a lot more. They undermined the wages of workers. So in 1978 - 1980 things just got poorer for the average person/family.

When your parents (and themself) want you to become a doctor isn't because they want you to keep people healthy and save lives, they want you to become a doctor for their own selfish reasons. To tell all their friends and family that their son or daughter is "a doctor" for status and a large income. Yes, doctors are providing a wonderful service and should be reflected in it pay.
