***NOTE: I know this is long but hopefully it is worth the read. :) best way to explain the thinking effecting your outcome is that if you think a certain way, you will prepare for that eventuality you expect and miss out on or have what you need to take advantage of opportunities when they occur, as well as your perception can be muted to possibilities because you solidly think "no way" so you hesitate and miss out, while if you have a positive view of things you could also jump when there is not a solid opportunity and waste resources so when one does happen you are now lacking in the means to take advantage of one, also someone gives up a lot sooner if they have a dire view of things, while those who have a positive but also CRITICAL view to use the info available to make a smart decision, they will also be more likely to pivot and keep pushing through to that success. One example I remember ages ago seeing was that of a self targeting missile, in that it is always off target till it hits the target. It hits it's target by constantly ADJUSTING its trajectory, from OFF target to ON target, till it gets to the target. This is more effective than a missile that doesn't adjust, because the environment (like even a little gust of wind) will cause a perfectly aimed shot to miss, but the seeking missile can see it is being blown off course, say by wind, and adjust on the way. That is how a successful person is, constantly adjusting their course until successfully hitting their goals.

@@Viking_MediaTake advantage of living with family as much as you can for as long as you can stand it. I would start investing in rental properties as well, maybe wait for prices to dip first, but you should be able to build deposits quickly while living where you are. You probably already know this, but don't use your job income to buy things, use your returns from investments to buy things. If your returns aren't enough, you need to invest more.

It's definitely never too late to start a new career! Most people took 3-5 years (studying, getting their first entry-level job) to get into a new career and start getting good at something. That means that whether you're 30, 40, or 50, you can start a new career in the same amount of time, or even less, considering that you have so much life experience. If you could achieve great things in the past (getting the job you want, promoted, etc.), what's stopping you from doing the same now?

What's that thing? "the 26th percentile" or something. Basically, if you can reduce your cost of living by $1000 and instead you put that 1000 each year towards your retirement, you end up with 26000 extra when you reach retirement age...or something like that

when it comes to paying off high interest debts, what are your thoughts on "debt consolidation" programs? It definitely ruins your credit in the short term, but seems like it can take years and many thousands of dollars off the final bill
