I had argument on the way, he was running the public listed companies but, this gentleman told me to bring out the facts on these scams and otherwise keep quite. FOUNDER was KLLD, I had met him once in Dubai when I introduced him to a private equity firm of GCC region. He would've never klld self, the culprits had political motive. Most likely KKR or Blackstone or BlackRock may have made lots of money from CCD fiasco.

My question::: when things are doing well, why do corporates want to get into scams, cheat people of their hard earned money and give the country a bad name. I feel that well educated people, employing highly educated advicers from world premium educational institutions, strongly believe that support from the corrupt officials, politicians etc, they will be never caught. You can just bribe your way out. And all want to be instant rich, using other people's money.

People like sidharth don't die so easily they would kill the lender before getting any harm, this film story was quite a new way of escaping Indian laws he might be somewhere enjoying the proceeds of his crime. Entering and exiting India undetected is very easy especially through sea routes he might be enjoying his life in bahamas or some other safe heaven

FIIs are promised guaranteed return while making investment in equities. This is going on sincse ages even before SEBI. This happened in the case of a portable fire extinguisher long back in 80's. The listed company owner had agreed for guaranteed return. Things came into light when issue reached in courts. Similarly very recently in the case of amrapali froup this happened. The FII got back 140 crores as guaranteed return. The Supreme court got 183 crores jncluding interest deposited. Now this CCD deal. These are a few examples. It is going which everyone knows but keeps silent as it benifits all. I think there is some qid pro quo like this in a recent facebook deal with a major listed company as MDA was desperate to reduce debt and 75 billian dedl was going nowhere. We can only wait and watch.

Mam - Well spoken - The main problem is with the system where in the auditor is appointed by shareholders -but in real terms its the management which appoints the auditors and we expect the auditor to give a fair view of the financial statements - Most of the small audit firms in India are not equipped technically + from a knowledge point of view to audit - for most firms they checking the invoice and bills are the important part of audit If the auditor who are singing these balance sheet are made accountable then it makes sense The better system would be for income tax department to appoint auditors For companies where their is no borrowings and are share are not held by public -we don't need to have audit But you will have to understand their is a big lobbying body called the institute of chartered accountants of India - its time some one curbs its influence over business and governance

@@miteshchh1703 -Fair enough -whether its big 4 or non big 4- the auditor and the firm needs to be made accountable - My point was at least in case of big 4 firms the things are coming out due to the size of the problem -But Small firms are not at all equipped to handle complex audit - I have worked both in a big 4 and a small firm and i can say with some degree of certainty that the review mechanism is far far better then a small firm doing the audit . The problem is the governing body which i am part of as well that needs to be more proactive .
