They can’t sell them in China? Why do they need the USA? 🤔

How does it effect your business model when there are tariffs on people you launder money from?

1:24 very misleading comparison of price. no doubt the avg price of non ev cars sold in china are much less than US. lower income market etc. cost of shipping, code, distribution basically doubles the price to eu markets. byd seal in germany costs same or more than tesla 3.

Not so sure about this. Europe is notorious for import costs. I suspect that shipping costs to North America would also be cheaper. What impresses me is how much China has invested in automation including the use of cobots to reduce manufacturing costs. China is not banking on just cheap labour and is using substantially more automation than elsewhere to improve productivity. Do not kid yourself. China makes really really good EVs. It's unfortunate for good global trade and prosperity that differences exist surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However every country has the right to their own foreign policy. Sadly differences are critical which is adversely affecting global trade, increasing tensions, and is especially hurting the progress away from oil consumption. Like most of us, I can just observe what's going on.

@@martincuda7947 yes, i agree with what you say. saw a video on byd in germany. a third party dealer network sells the byd's at their dealerships, and they set the prices, which are very close to equivalent teslas. it costs a lot of money to have a dealer network, and byd is new to eu market, so they have a high cost distribution network. perhaps over time these costs can be lowered. and people are reluctant to a new brand byd. the stuff now about "over capacity" or subsidies simply do not apply. economists and banks and others have checked the cost of a byd. they have huge scale, enormous robotic factories, supply chain, lower cost labor etc. tesla shanghai has similar. politics is just crazy corrupt rn.

When the US buyer imports goods subject to tariffs from China, they pay the tariff to the US government. This cost and any markup are typically passed on to the end consumer, meaning consumers ultimately bear the burden of tariffs through higher prices. The Chinese seller, however, does not directly pay the tariff; the importer in the US bears that responsibility. China does not suffer the consequences of tariffs. The US consumers are being punished by having to pay higher prices.
