I like it! It has a distinct siyah and kassan, which is nice and historical. I agree on that hairy whipping. The whipping looks less fuzzy than some. I'd think about giving it a couple of coats of pine tar and linseed oil. It will solidify the whipping a little and make it look better.

Technically in 13th century the presence of hemp and such instead of sinew is fairly likely due to widespread availability. Pretty much from the XII century onwards we see a lot of silk and "Chinese nettle" (it may not be the correct English name, I literally translated it from my native language) clothing and writtem mentions of those materials replacing wool en masse for example. That's of course hypothetical for bows as we have very few examples from that period, and sinew and cords tend to be "first to go" when decomposition kicks in.

@@DirtyHrnt111 interesting, i can't even find an old listing, the turkish style grip is one of my favorites, and a longer bow with that style would be quite interesting... maybe one day Simsek will make the XL Sipahi i heard they were considering at one point.

I also find another benefit from these fibreglass bows... You can literally leave them outside and forget about em and they still shoot amazing no fails. I dont even unstring em anymore. My oldest one is coming up on its 5years lifetime so far. And its still like the day I received it. And thats a normal cheapass fibreglass. There are also carbonfiber ones. They claim its better than fibreglass, but I dunno, cant tell yet since they are relatively new and I havent owned them even a year yet. They feel more durable tho but time will tell. And I treat em the same way like the cheap one. Perfect bows for the apoc if someone is into that kind of stuff. But that said. I ONLY like fibreglass/carbonfiber bows/limbs if its for horsebows or at least a very short bows/limbs in general. Bc once limbs get long you can kinda feel it imho. The fibreglass longbows and recurve bows arent that great rly imho. You can tell its "cheap" feeling. But ofc you also compare it with the price or another personal reason, which is for me the durability/less maintenance, and sense of security feeling not worrying about it breaking/diminishing easily.

I think it’s a lot cooler to not have a modern branding on it - looks way cooler and more authentic. That said I totally agree about the omission of draw length. I think ur thumb got tired man, sorry but the bow has no shelf so it makes med draw really cumbersome.

Two questions. 1. Would you recommend painting on the limbs of this bow? I intend to do so to eventually gift it, and I'm not keen on doing it on a laminate. 2. When you shoot, I notice that you don't wear bow hand protection. How do you keep the fletching from cutting into your hand?
@DK_1983
@DK_1983 4 ай бұрын
There is no difference if you paint it or they do it. Decorate away 👍 But if you mean full on change of colour then airbrush or at least spraypaint it. Dont paint it with a brush. If you are jsut making decorative work use any sort of paint you want. Just dont want a thicc layer of paint on the entire limb :D Wont destroy it tho, just worried it will take some of the speed out of the limbs, but cant say for sure. Just a hunch. But either way it will be way prettier if you spray it in some way. When you shoot off the shelf/hand, you notice when he nocks the arrow its not sitting on a perfect 90degree angle. Its nock is raised ever so slightly making it maybe more like maybe a 87degree angle (it differs from person to person and arrows), that makes the arrow clear the shelf/hand when released bc it contracts and then when it expands it expands in a 90 degree angle to the string now clearing your shelf/hand. And is also usually required for a well tuned arrow bc you dont want the arrow to smack onto the shelf/hand either for flying true purposes. But that nock point being raised a bit is what helps against arrows hitting/scratching the hand, and for shelfs its what helps it to not have an arrow stick with a nock high and fly "downwards" always.

Can you shoot a 30lbs lol? Arent they usually like 25lbs max? Make sure you know this before, bc its literally an assault charge, and then depending on your country it may or may not be a worse charge... Like "intent" or some "attempt" .. shit I dunno xD I just think they will call it "assault with a deadly weapon" most likely. Or will you not be hitting/shooting at each other during that reenactment?
