Mongolia is looking like to be quite an exciting trip! The local Mongolian music sounds pretty nice! I remember one of my uncles went there almost two decades ago, and I remember he told my family and I all about his trip out to the countryside there as he got to meet the people living nomadically out in the steppes. He's big into agriculture, so it was interested in him seeing what things were like compared with the United States or even other countries he had visited. Have fun!

I was there a few years ago but in the middle of winter, looks a little different when you can actually see the ground you're walking on! The people are amazing, just dont think about what you're eating and it will be good!

It is a safest place on Earth. Even the police no need to have a gun in it's daily uniform.

We had a BBC TV programme on just last night about a trip to Mongolia and the guy was totally snarled up in the traffic - looks like you had it much easier. It was crazy to see the guys out in the hills sorting out dates via Facebook! Looks like a really cool place to visit. Looking forward to the content. Stay safe.

My wife flew to China a number of years ago when SARS outbreak was around. Long train journey and then … they were told that they had to return home. ARGH! Managed to complete the journey at a later date.

Aren't the Altaj mountains on the border with Siberia? Mongolia is one of those few places that I've always truly wanted to visit, but never thought I could. I guess, for now, I get to live it vicariously through you guys. :-)

They are close to China border western Mongolia. Have a look on google.

Hope you went up to the main temple in UB. There are some good travel portraits with some of the monks if you ask nicely :) Thank you in Mongolian = (Баярлалаа)bayer-la There are cafes in Ulgii that will give you decent enough wifi should you need to upload a vlog. But once you get back to UB and go into the central region you can forget any decent connections out there!

I’m almost sure you guys can pay 20$-30$ for unlimited cellular service but probably only 4G inside Ulan-Bator and 3G for the rest of the country. I never spent more than couple days around the rural area so i cant remember if i had connection.

In case of emergency, you don't have to call 911 .... just run to Brendan's room ( 911 ) . ha.ha.ha. Good thing you don't smoke 'coz the taxi's use LPG ( Liquefied Petroleum Gas ).

If you really want some adventure refuse any travel guide service at least inside the city. Travel guides are mostly english speaking teenage bullshitters. If you get one specifically ask them to translate exactly what curators are saying etc.
