Maxi Touring

Күн бұрын

The End is not only near, it is finally here. I travel my last 1100 km through the EU with a small welcome stop near Vienna and a last stretch back home to Innsbruck. I have a final technical problem with the Moped which for the first time I couldn't fix on the spot and someone had to come out to bring me a spare part, but in the End I made it home.
In 2018 I did this trip where I shipped my Moped to Mongolia and rode it all the Way back home to Austria. In 3 Months I covered 13.000 kilometers crossed the Mongolian steppes and went through the Pamir Mountains. All in all it was an awesome adventure I wouldn't want to miss.

A million yeats ago, I had a Puch Maxi. I thought I would conquer the earth on it. Almost 40 years later, I stumbled across a Maxi-N. Maybe, it's high time I finally take that adventure. Inspiring!

Maxi made sure she got you close to help before letting go. A good friend. Full of admiration for both of you on your epic adventure. Not forgetting the Honda to. I am hoping to do similar on a Honda Varadero 125cc one day soon.

Loved your videos of the trip. I wish I could have taken a trip like that. I have taken a lot of long distance motorcycle trips, but never left the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. So far, at age 64, I have ridden right around a million miles. I have owned mopeds all my life, got my first one, a new Peugeot 103, at age 16 in 1975. I currently have a 1980 Puch Newport II (same as a Maxi) with a ZA50 two speed engine, and a 1979 Sears Free Spirit, made by Puch/Kromag, with an E50 engine, and the same Puch snowflake wheels you have on your Maxi. I also have a 1979 Vespa Rally 200 scooter.

An Heroic Undertaking. Tons of stamina.. and few complaints despite extreme cold and heat. Certainly shows the quality of the Puch ! I found the Honda to be so much more civilized, I can hardly see the point of the moped except to show that it can be done. I would like to hear the fuel use numbers, and in comparison to the honda. Also the type tire you used, because they seem to have behaved extra ordinarily well ! Some notes on the costs along the way, also of interest.

What an amazing trip! My mother's cousin did a trip on a moped from Sweden to South Africa in the 1950s (I think). He wrote a book about it. Unfortunately, he had to cut the trip short in the Democratic Republic of Congo because his wife passed away back in Sweden. I've been thinking for some time that I want to complete his trip by flying into the DRC, buying a moped and driving to SA. You have really inspired me to make that dream into reality! Thanks!

My first set of wheels at 14 was a Puch 3 year. Only two gears worked. It gave me a passion for Motorcycles. My first ped on the road was a Puch maxi super d. It had a dual seat. Only one set of foot pegs. Man that took some stick. Restricted to 30mph. All my mates had unrestricted peds. Fs1e, Ap50 and the like. I had a slow granny bike. Loved it all the same until I could afford a Honda SS50 nostalgia hey

Loved this, you've managed a fantastical journey on the least likely vehicle anyone would ever think of using. Even on my little 250 people assume it's too small to do distance on. I've done 600 miles in day on it, big bikes are too heavy and thirsty to do distance on.
