I was also sent abroad years ago as I’m not in teens anymore lol but my parents especially my dad was quite successful (now retired), and even though I live in G7 country (top three economy of the world), not everyone can send kids to abroad as it cost hundreds of thousands to send a kid to a boarding school. I’m pretty sure I costed them a lot of money. Lol.
It seems that their nomadic life is a real freedom. Moving around following the changes of seasons. I can see myself being happy in this kind of existence. I cried like crazy in the end and days later I still think of this documentary, it messed up with my feelings it made me be more conscious of the damage we are doing to earth, to animals. Nothing can stop people from pursuing a better life, but if they don't drive away the wolf pack, the sheep will be eaten. If there were no wolf packs. There are more and more rabbits on the grassland, and they ultimately dominate the grassland. Only by mastering balance can one obtain eternal wealth. For humans, the most important thing is to protect them, not wolf packs.

I am an ordinary Indian residing in a big city in India... After watching this film I felt like this is from another planet.. Wow.. What a film... Very beautifully captures the struggles, aspirations, concerns of nomads no matter which country they live in.. At the same time the film gently tells how meaningless life the so called "citizens" live.. Salute to the makers of this film...

Powerful and moving. The struggles and hardship along with the unity and traditional values. Change is always difficult and progress isn't always the best way. So glad that this documentary was made so we will know how these resilient people survived and thrived in a unforgiving environment.

I am from Ga USA. I wish docs like this were required viewing in public schools. The more American students see the beauty of other cultures and the hardship others face compared to ours the better we can start becoming the neighbors we need to be. At least we can remember the different ways others live before they're lost. We may have decades left of some things but we will certainly lose others within years. I feel lucky to have seen this. I appreciate that unlike so many things people watch lately this isn't divisive, it's just the opposite to me. I feel a kinship and being Scottish/Irish I realize that sometime in the past, my ancestors had to endure some of the same things, being cold, being hungry. Great teamwork all around with production, editing, filming, ECT. Entertaining and educational. If I homeschooled, my kids would see every Slice doc out there by graduation. Thanks

A really beautiful and moving documentary, one of the best I ever saw on all fronts: human relationships, our true place in nature, culture, history, photography, the challenge of survival and the dilemma of keeping traditions or moving to the city and getting paid employment. Everything was covered with sensitivity. Hats off to Slice and respect to the herder and his family.

To the old mans beautiful wisdom and the tears he cried I cried with him. And the ending words were so perfect and devastatingly true. Exactly! Raw and simple living. No other issues, than only make shure you eat and stay warm, with functional clothes. No make up, panties, fashion hysteria and unnatural beauty tirany. No phones, no laptop, no useless things you learn... Kids who are not left to nannies when mother works, dad works. All day long staying with your family and close bonded. No crying hysterical children and frustrating tantrums. No adhd, and other mental problems, no psychiatrists, and a 1000 other things that bother them. Simple, transparent living. Simple things to be and stay grounded and feeling of belonging. I guess suicidal thoughts and depressions are low. When sick, people help eachother, because everybody is present and not working somewhere else all day and absent. Indeed a life worth living.

I've just struck w/ awe for that stunning cinematography on this doc.. Those photographers must have spent for well over 1 yr. so as to procure these brilliant, unmissable, momentous footages on after another describing their vanishing traditional nomads life style in the face of some adverse conditions. I've gained new & upgraded insight into their life style. My highest kudos to the post-production crew as well such as audio men w/ that minimal but dramatic effective background music, esp. at the end, narrators, a director, etc. My heartfelt gratitude for them all,,,,,(09/01/23)

I had the opportunity to visit a nomad family when crossing Mongolia in 2015. It was a life changing event. On a sidenote: We befriended one of the children and we were delighted when we could help her move to us in Sweden in pursuit of a career in medicine - a career she excels in. Our world became smaller in 2015, linking to differnt parts of the world by the bond of friendship. Edit; a bit corny but the video made me sentimental
