Well, I'm all in on Predecessor for now. I have been playing Fault recently and it's ok. Overprime looks amazing, but the lootboxes are turning me off. Ethereal I'm completely in the "I don't care" camp on that one. Especially, supporting NFTs. F that.

I saw a CBT player say that Overprime while fun to play the animations are lacking and doesn't feel good when you are attacking, while it looks so far like the most beautiful project they really need to fix those animations I saw them and they are awful yep and the animations are something that defines if your game is played or not since it's those that show how entertaining it feels to play the game. I have a question and I need some honest opinions on it: Taking Ethereal out of the equation how do you "feel" the situation on the marketing of the rest 3 of the games will turn out regading the fact that the have the same assets (map, heroes, etc...). I mean that we will have 3 released games with so similar assets in a genre (MOBA) that needs iconic and distinguishable heroes/maps/gameplay to separate one game from the others.

From a strictly marketing perspective, Souleve is well ahead of everyone else. I don't know if that's because of Netmarble or what, but they have come up with both traditional and outside the box marketing strategies that have shown proven results. I say that without seeing a major marketing push from the other two so maybe they'll surprise us, however Overprime is getting their name out there far and wide well before the other two have even tried. Which game is actually the best is a hard question to ask, but I feel there is no question that Overprime has already won the marketing campaign.

My concern (among others) is that with games, free to play or not, that fail to find a stable playerbase usually shut down and it will be waste of time to invest time and possibly money to the "wrong" paragon successor and lose both. I know that is very early to have any actual idea how those games will be recieved by the players but with some simple thinking seems that betting on Overprime might be a start (without automatically dismissing the other games). Unless of course the monetization in the game goes overboard something that many asian gaming companies have in common.

Overprime is going to have some success partly due to Battle Arena players seeing it a close to what they want outside Smite's Arena. This is what happens when there is no game for them to go to. Pred is unknown due to the long silence. I tried Fault for almost 150 hours mainly bug reporting but got fed up due to some of the community. I will admit I really did not want to do Fault, the way it was presented did not sit well with me and after trying it convinced me more of what they are doing wrong. Now I just try not to discuss Fault much anymore to let others come to their own conclusions but I do not see myself going back same way I just cannot play Smite anymore. MOBAs in general got problems not being discussed unfortunately. This does not count top down that I never played except for 2, one because it used WASD movement but it is dead now, the other to see what a mobile MOBA was like but I left it.

From what I've been told in the past, Predecessor will actually be a prequel to Paragon lore wise. So they can use the Paragon lore and build the on the stories from a perspective of why.

I really wish Predecessor has that "oomph" with the auto attacks like back in Paragon. Hitting anything didn't seem like there was any impact and weight to it.

As I've gone through with very close side by side comparisons of the same heroes I've realized that basic attack animations, sfx, and vfx is the ONE category where Pred falls behind the others on a consistent basis. They're either on the same level or far ahead in everything else. Perhaps it's something they'll work on in the future.

It's still the closest to actual paragon with the decisions the community always wanted that we never got from epic, since they seemed to have a lot of internal conflict about what they wanted the game to be.

Now I know there are 4 separate projects based on Paragon assets, that look the same but are different in games mechanics? But this is a recipe for a disaster! Well 3 that are using the same assets but yeah, it's kinda fucked. No way they'll all survive and right now it's splitting an already fractured community. We'll eventually figure out which one is best though and hopefully that one can last longer than Paragon did.

@@ricardo3ten , Yes. People still refer the items as cards due to their Paragon conditioning. As for the "card system", it was fine (the aspects/affinities were a bit confining for certain heroes as their aspects/affinities weren't supportive of their hero role [ex: Sparrow with Growth; Growth was great for armour, or health but not for raw DPS, lol]). It was the decks which forced you to a limited number of items for the entire match which was where Epic messed up. Then they doubled down on their mistakes with the gem system of the New Dawn update (v42).

I never knew what the pre 42 system was like, after 42 had issues. I believe anyone could make a game with items inspired by the cards and it would stand out as different. I thought of suggesting it to one game, they seem to have at least one item inspired by Paragon cards but they messed up items overall in certain ways.

The fact that all of the remake projects are reluctant to bring back the card system shows that the system has too many flaws and very risky to be implemented because it's a huge entry barrier for other MOBA players from DotA, LoL, SMITE, etc. I personally don't mind because I wanted something new in a MOBA but if it's proven that it's too a hustle, then I guess it's better we stick with item shop.

Played Predecessor today but for me it is a shame they implemented the same lane mechanic as LoL and also items that are a MUST to buy at the beginning because they evolve throughought the match which takes away a freedom of choice which is a big no no for me. Waiting for Overprime.

@@StorkNest my bad bro, I maybe in the wrong I just remember not long after the paragon servers was shut down around April 2018 I think they released a trailer (or was is 2019 lol) and the trailer looked more like it could've been Oblivion or from the Dark/demon souls series to me. A dragon with a whip, some forestry looking area so on. So may have been late to seeing if there was something before that. But you're right want "it" back is definitely a key part to play

Could be wrong about all this. But all this seems pretty fucken dodgy to me. Epic Games may have released assets to be used in Unreal engine 4. But that usually doesn't allow companies to create a fully working game out of the assets. We would have more Unreal Tournament games with different names. if that's was the case. Omeda Studios has raised 2.2 million I think, to get paragon up and running again. but that doesn't mean epic games gave them the all-clear fully copy Paragon or better still to charge $12 to play the game. like how Strange Matter Studios, is doing with Fault

I know it seems dodgy but if that were the case, Epic would have shut strange matter down a long time ago instead of letting it go for 2 years. As long as they don’t claim that it IS paragon, and pay epic percentage of earnings for using the engine, they’re all in the clear. There HAVE been some dodgy companies over the years that have tried to claim that they were making a paragon like game with the assets in order to make a quick buck off of all the pararefugees but we’ve been able to identify that pretty quick

I have only played Fault so far. It's ok. Needs work and solid polish, but they definitely hit the old paragon "feel" while still trying some new stuff. It's the player toxicity that is the main problem, deterring newer players- so don't try to learn it without having the skin to handle flaming for your screw-ups.
