I used to go crazy decorating for Christmas. And a year ago when I was 61, I toned it way down. I’m on meds for anxiety and have been for over 20 years. Last Christmas I thoroughly enjoyed decorating as I didn’t put everything out. It felt amazing and with 50% less decor….. it still looked beautiful. I love a home that is really full of Christmas decor, and enjoy seeing those videos. But I just can’t keep up anymore. Your room looks stunning Monica!

At 77 i find I don't have the patience to change out decor all the time, So the mantle, wreath on the door and maybe a spot of decor in the bathroom guest go into. Other than that, nope. I have a small tree with toys on it. It will go near the kitchen table. If I have guests, they can enjoy that there. However as a widow, I no longer feel Christmasy. Sorry, family. if you want me to do it, decorating or dinners, you come over and do it for me. I'm done.

I get ya …I love all my stored decorations but it is just to much with kids living away and family I do have a small year round slim tree that we keep up year round at our lake house All ornaments are lake inspired with clip on roosters Maybe you could get one of these cute trees and put in some favorite theme for all year Hugs to you and Merry Christmas 🎄

I have become enamored of the frosted/lightly flocked look on trees, garlands and wreaths - nothing too heavy, I still want to see green coming through on the branches. Unless you live in an area where tons of snow is prevalent with strong winds, even deep snow doesn't ordinarily cover ALL of the green on evergreen trees. Light frosting/flocking lightens up what can sometimes be a rather heavy look, and also can be a great backdrop for gold, silver, clear, mercury glass and light pastel colored ornaments as well as the deeper rich toned colors. Just love your room, it's gorgeous for Christmas!

You always do such a beautiful job! I understand the anxiety. When my kids got old enough to decorate the tree on their own, I struggled a little wanting to rearrange things. But one year I decided to let them do it, and I was so less stressed. Now my teenage daughter takes over and does a beautiful job. I do the rest of the house, but the tree is hers. And although it isn't always pinterest worthy, it is beautiful because I know she put her heart into it.

The mantel is perfection! The gold mirror is so unique ... the garland gorgeous... but those wood candlesticks and how they blend with the birch look of the hanging ice skates is everything. Beautiful composition.

A kindred spirit from Canada. I have all the bins labelled as to their decorative destination in the house, for example. It takes me two days just to put the lights on the tree (I fear one day I will immolate myself with the number of lights I feel the need to put on but more is … well, more!). And so on. I start the process during the last week of November so D-Day looms large. Does anyone else find that taking the stuff out and putting the decorations up so much fun but having to take it down and pack it away a flaming boring task or is it just me? Anyhoo, really enjoyed watching someone else’s process. Merry, merry!
