Not sure I 100% agree. Whitechapel is great transport wise but very dirty. Victoria Park is huge and visitedby locals alot. Great if you like the Indian restaurants on Brick Lane. I personally dont feel very safe on the little streets at night

I was just starting to research areas and thought Stratford was too far out but also don't want a long commute. Nowhere within the M25 is good value for money. Best of a bad lot is Southwest Essex.. At least there is a tube service to Hornchurch and Upminster masking commuting feasible.

Excellent video! If I had to live by Canary Wharf, I woudldchose a flat in St Katherine's Docks as I love seeign the boarts and it makes me feel on holiday. Otherwise, Marybelone, Battersea, south and west/Wimbledon woudl be my go to.

Clapham: posh AND grungy?? Had to investigate… Looking at the map it’s a huge area served by 3 tube stations and Clapham Junction rail/overground, so that may explain it. Street View shows posh buildings around the Common, but where’s the grungy bit…perhaps north of Clapham Junction? South of the Junction on Northcote Road looks pretty cool with lots of boutique shops, bars, and large park which seems to have a Portobello vibe without the tourists, but transport connections limited to train/overground.

Hackney, Tottenham Park, Elephant&Castle, Finsbury Park; Whitechapel, Peckham; more or less are shitholes….. despite new developments or coffee shops….. There are some nice pockets in some boroughs but the majority are shitholes. If I have to mention decent places; these would be: SW - Putney, some part of Fulham, Wimbledon N - Barnsbury ( Islington) Some part of EC, maybe around Farringdon. Some part of Chelsea, Kensington, around Hyde Park, Etc. But like you said, many areas; for example in Chelsea; there are some lovely streets but 2 min further is a shithole. Overall, the prices they asking in London are ridicolous for what you get…

It really varies. Some agents over price the units, some under price. You really have to just get a feel for what the current market price is by looking around and decide for yourself what it's worth. I would say though with the current market most people bid a bit above asking.

Moved to east london (greenwich) a year ago and defs agree with the info here! Super helpful! I tried to find a place in hackney or Islington when I first got here but was quite difficult if you're new to the UK and got some budget constraints - real estate moved super fast there too. It worked out though because I found that looking for a place in outskirts of zone 2 / bordering zone 3 was easier if you're new to the UK, and i ended up loving the sunset river walks in my neighborhood. Now that I'm more settled in london, defs referring to this video as I look for a new area to move to 🤍🏠
