Absolutely love this look! I'm maybe not quite as fair as Cate and have a more neutral undertone but I find it so hard to find a foundation that matches me. Before I started wearing foundation I didn't realize that I was so pale that I was either the lightest shade from a brand or they don't make a shade light enough. Whenever I watch tutorials on YT and the attempt a version of it at home it is always either way to harsh or too warm on my skin tone. I love your softer, more natural approach to makeup!

The problem we get from companies that their foundations oxidize ... which is hard for fair skin ... hope u will make a list of foundations that don't oxidize

@ocandro5 жыл бұрын
Folks, just because something doesn't oxidize on you, doesn't meant it won't for someone else. Aside from really unusual formulas, like the wonderful RCMA someone mentioned (huge wide shade range, doesn't emphasize dry patches, love it), everything can oxidize, depending on your skin type, it's ph and environmental factors. Also, it's often powdering that truly causes it. Always swatch your shade in the store, powder it (unless you never use powder), wait as long as you can and check in daylight before buying. Being fair, I always have some white (or super fair) foundations for mixing, so I can focus more on the formula and undertone than lightness. That said, it won't help, if the product oxidizes to very orange shade. Also, avoid pink shades, if they are salmony pink, instead of blue pink, typically neutrals work best for us (unless you are fair and yellow).

From a very snow white lady with red hair...thank you, Monika, for showing us some love because they say that dark skin is so often ignored in beauty, which it totally is, but I don't think people understand it can be very difficult to find products for those of us on the ultra light end of the spectrum!

Beautiful! I will be trying some of these colors and techniques. Especially nice to see bronzer used sparingly to add warmth and dimension. Can you recommend a concealer with high coverage that looks relatively natural for fair skin? I have extremely dark circles, including the blueness all around the eyes that you mention. The Armani pink corrector works well, but I haven't been able to find a concealer that covers enough. Thank you! x
@dalmafleitas25487 жыл бұрын
Mary CH I think you could try shape tape by tarte. In my case I wear revlon age defyning cause it has high coverage and its the one I can afford
@mcatcella7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Will look at the Revlon today and keep my eyes out for the Tarte. People always ask me if I'm ill or tired :(
@edeneverly25737 жыл бұрын
I'm ultra fair. Sometimes I look white as a sheet. If anyone is interested, I don't care for most of the prestige brands foundations that are light enough for me, nor can I afford them. So just fyi, if you haven't tried yet and struggle to find a foundation light enough that is affordable, these are what I've finally found as winners. But I do not have pink undertones. I'm a warm-neutral with yellow undertones and I lose my shiz because the lightest are usually not light enough or are loaded with a pink tone that looks awful on me. L'Oreal True Match (W1 has not a trace of pink and it's perfect, but they have N and C for everyone). Revlon Colorstay Matte and Poreless (finally let go of my True Match to try these new fair foundations) I recently gave in and I thought it might be too pink. Nope! It's fabulous. I love the coverage. Maybelline Fit Me already had a great shade for super fair girls but also recently added another even lighter shade and it's awesome! If you need affordable alternatives give a try. It can be more difficult to choose one when in the pharmacy because you can't get samples, so it's hit or miss. God did I really go through a few. But these are perfect. I devised a way to lighten up foundations too dark for me at the lightest, so-called porcelain shade and with these there is no need. 💋💕💄

I love your videos Monica!! Which foundation you would use on a bride with oily skin that is getting married at the beach?
@LA-nt4qg7 жыл бұрын
I just found this video and it's wonderful. I have a basic question about warm vs cool tones for redheads. I think that my skin tone is warm, my hair is a warm auburn-copper, and I have freckles that are warm. However, I have redness in areas from some flushing and a blue-purple undereye area that never goes away. So - do I wear warm or cool colors? I've always worn warm, but have never found a foundation that looks right. Perhaps I've been wrong all this time! My coloring is close to Julianne Moore's, except that I have brown eyes. I notice that she often wears a berry lip and bluer blush than I do. Are there any redheads out there who can weigh in? Thanks!
@cindypruitt95347 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this. I have similar coloring and never see tutorials this comprehensive for redheads. Thanks! I want the Nars blush and the Chanel lipcolors. I have a question. Can you recommend a foundation in that shade range for a very dry skin.? I am 44 with not too many lines but my skin is so dry. Thank you so much.

Dear Monika, could you please recommend a red lipstick for pale skin. I'm a teacher and I'd like an "understated red color" for work. I love videos like this but completely disagree when people assume makeup looks can be universally flattering. I have quite a full-shaped dark brow against my fair skin and it looks significantly better than pale brows. I also couldn't pull off a "pretty" makeup look like this one, and always need to gravitate to something more lived-in and grunge. I'd absolutely love to see you leave your comfort zone Monika and do something more grungy or bohemian!
