Tao, sort, but very useful video. No BS, just straight to the point. I have seen several review videos about arms, but you are the first one who TOUCH and show us the wobbliness. Keep it up!

As the owner of an IKEA Malm desk myself, I found this to be very useful. As you say, fitting a monitor arm to this type of desk is the devils work because of the cable management tray. Thank you very much for the information. I have liked and subscribed.
@HotSkorpion Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the cable management tray on mine only has an opening to the back in the middle. So, I either mount the arm in the middle, or I can-t clamp anything to it. And I found somewhere that this is actually a paper honeycomb core. So Drilling a grommet hole is out of the question too... Any Ideas_

Nice video mate I was actually really hesitant on which style of monitor arm I should choose and your video got recommended, it's a life saver imma go with the gas spring one for flexibility like you pointed out thanks Tao!

Thank you so much for this video. I've been hesitant to get a Monitor arm for my MALM desk because I never knew if it would fit. Very helpful video 👍

Thank you for this video. I was very concerned about wall clearance for the gas spring dual monitor arm. I really like your technique that you decided to mount on the side so that you can extend one arm instead of mounting it in the center which needs a lot of wall clearance.

Also, the quality of the video is awesome, the video quality, commentary, demonstration... Really good +1 sub

The exact comparison I was looking for. I’m trying to decide between these two styles of monitor arms for my desk. I think I will go with the gas spring arms.
@convergencev Жыл бұрын
Great video. People should really think if they will benefit from these arms. As you mentioned, monitor arms can consume more desk space if they are in center, because people would tilt them a little. In that scenario, the desk space without monitor arms will also be the same, it might actually be more if you have a monitor smaller than arm size like 24 cm, because to put those monitors together, arms might go little backward. So after watching this very insightful video I decided to not use monitor arms.

i have that desk and i just cut a space out with a sawzall where the clamps go. wood chips everywhere, but mounting was a success.

When you talk about height adjustment at 3:39, is it possible to adjust height of one arm only, without moving the other arm with it? Thanks
@mattnemeth1333Ай бұрын
Not possible with that model specifically. I'd recommend 2 single monitor mounts

With the simpler stand... Do you have to keep the monitors far back or can you drag it so it reaches like the middle of the desk in dept?

Are there any single monitor arms for the malm desk that you recommend? The previous monitor arm I used caved into the desk, so I'm looking for a monitor arm that can hold my monitor (24 inch)

Hi, is your table holding the monitor arm well ? Considering that the table is made fireboard and paper filling ? I have a 31 inch monitor which weighs around 8 kg. Do you think I can use lagkapten oslov ikea table to clamp my monitor arm with a 31 inch monitor ?

@Rohit Xess If just one 32” monitor, I would say yes. I have no issues with 2 27” .

Hi! I also have a malm desk and i want to get the monitor arm but im scared because of the images of everyones desk caving in due to it not being solid wood. Have you had a problem with this? And Is there enough space to add an additional solid wood slab to distribute the weight of the arm?
@TaoMStudio3 жыл бұрын
@ItsOnlyMe I never had any issues at all throughout the years.

@@mccree8851 heyy! I got the monitor arms in the end. Had some issues at first with being sent one faulty one but they replaced it immediately! The monitor arms are perfect for my setup and the malm desk. It supports my two 27inch monitors (one i keep horizontal and the other vertical). No issues with caving of dents etc. Even with the monitor arms being set on the left side and not centered for the pressure balance. I havent readjusted it once since putting it on thou tbh.

@@its_jinxx okay thanks a lot. Im wanting to mount 2 24 inch monitors and there were a lot of nasty images of those dents that the clamps may cause. Hopefully none of that happens. Thanks for the reply.

both sucks, enormous wobbling, only wall mount will work
@tdmdchannel2339 Жыл бұрын
I use all style for years. Gas spring arm at the studio, wall mount and pole style at home. There is no more wobbling from the monitor arm then you would normally get from the original table stand. Unless you have a flimsy tabletop. Obviously, wall mount is good but not always possible depending on the desk setup.
