Exactly what happened to me earlier. Been on a ketovore diet. Blood glucose usually in 80-115 range. Exercised earlier and my blood glucose went up to 135! Waited 1/2 hour and came down to 112.

Even if I walk a short distance, my blood glucose doubles...

💯🎯 Masters athlete here. I do resistance training for 1 hour followed by 30-minutes of weighted jump rope training 5X per week. Add in a 2 mile easy walking 3X per week. This routine works well for me. 💯

I work with a trainer 2 days a week for 1 hour each. 1 day is at the gym (w/ machines) and the other at home - mostly wt resistance & some cardio. Within 30 mins post exercise I take my BP & pulse, BG & KTones. My BP goes down to a close to "normal" range but BG goes up into the 120's and KT anywhere from .1 upwards. I am fasted beforehand 16 to 18 hrs. My QUESTION is how long should a BG spike like that take to return to baseline (

It's very disingenuous to be fasted during excercise

My blood sugar goes so high from weight lifting so isn’t that bad ?
@mooke34 ай бұрын
It's the release of stress hormones (adrenaline/cortisol) from lifting heavy stimulating (of the top of my head) the liver to release glucose stores.
@Man-u-flex4 ай бұрын
@@mooke3 yea but isn’t that bad since it responds like eating a bunch of sugar basically
@mooke34 ай бұрын
@@Man-u-flex Sorta, but without doing any research (I haven't for a while so this is more of an educated guess), three options. The glucose stores need to be replaced in the Liver, so somehow/somewhere glucose is going from the blood to the liver or glucose from the next meal, instead of turning to fat goes into the liver OR fat turns into glucose and goes to the liver. Reducing fat around the pancreas/belly increases insulin sensitivity I understand. Sorry this was more so waffle instead of an actual answer

How is it different for blood sugar to spike with HIIT, versus food? High BS is high BS?
@Man-u-flex5 ай бұрын
I’m thinking the same thing, and she said it’s very different spike but not how or why it is good.
@donutcare96805 ай бұрын
Well for one the glucose has now been freed and is ready to use for the exercise. So less in the body and will be replaced next time you eat glucose and not stored as fat?

It's the difference between blood circulating glucose Vs one you just added on top of your existing glucose. One is a healthy way of putting the glucose stores to fuel your muscles during workout, the other is building up towards chronic inflammation and diseases. Especially if a person leads a sedentary lifestyle, overeats and in general consumes primarily carb and sugar rich diet

Better to exercise moderately than excessively cuz your glocuse will spike. This is why i walk and ride bike..lifting weights is minimum
