I love this! For a brilliant homicide detective who can solve any case, his friends put in a lot of effort and actually managed to surprise him. It was wonderful. And I loved how Monk figured everything out. Truly, this is one of Monk's best episodes

Its so heartwarming to see the police being willing to go an extra mile just to give him an entertaining birthday party. In sleuth stories police usually dislikes the detective, but here you can see that they really appreciate him.

If Monk asks how the captain knows specifically, then he mentions that they got a tip-off for people chasing a bounty on Monk's head, or any number of methods we've seen the captain get intel on bad guys seemingly out of nowhere in other episodes; he has a whole police division under him.

I don't think they have been promising us a new updated series. They have shot a movie however back in May and is perhaps going to be on Peacock this November if the strikes haven't delayed things.

It's best if they don't touch that serie at all, we didn't have companies like netflix back then, we still had great shows like Monk. A remake would destroy the original show in every aspects. If Monk was remade, he would get the Ann Boleyn treatment from netflix, and that's a huge NO ftom me. The serie was created when that diversity nonsense wasn't forced. Adrian befriended an African man because the wife of the man killed by a truck-driver, not for token points, but because Adrian may be suffering from his own loss, but deep down, he have a heart of gold. It's touching how he remains loyal to Trudy and his quest to find her murderer, he shows that despite his fears (both tied to his childhood and the loss of Trudy), he won't let an innocent getting killed and want to bring justice to different cases he worked on, even on the case of the murder of his neighbor. No companies can replicate THAT amount of cares, love and character's developpment that naturally.
