One of the greatest things this show had was great characters and even greater guest stars Edit: Also now that I think about it, this episode feels like a lead on to Monk's own struggles with the death of his wife. Think about it, the woman was blinded by a driver who killed her family and the moment she has the opportunity to get revenge on the person who done it, she gets it. So to lead on from that throughout the show, Monk would potentially deal with the same outcome albeit the moment he finds out who killed his wife. It's a nice detail that some of the cases have more meaning then you'd think.

In Mr. Monk and the Naked Man, Monk was so uncomfortable around nudity that he was visibly disturbed. It was mentioned that he doesn't look at himself naked I believe. In Mr. Monk Goes to Vegas he can't even look at a woman who is scantily clad. I think he averts his eyes here when the streaker gets very close but he doesn't seem as put off as in the other instances. Is this an inconsistency, or is his blood just up because he has his quarry? It is true that, sometimes, the solving of a case helps him set aside some of his problems.

She says she has vision in one eye, so her other side would be blind. She would have gotten so used to the cane it would feel wrong without it. Lots of people who wear glasses from childhood and then get eye surgery struggle with not putting on their glasses when they wake up, feeling wrong without the glasses on their face because its such a familiar sensation. So she probably would just use the cane on her blind side to give her a heads up on something she might run inside on that side. Mary Ann Franco was a 70 year old woman who had been blind since 1993 after a car accident damaged her nerves. She fell down the stair in 2016 and regained her sight. There was also the case of a New Zealand Woman who had been blind since she was 11 getting some of her sight back after hitting her head on a coffee table while bending down to kiss her dog. Back in the 80’s Edwin Robinson was struck by lightning during a storm and had his sight and hearing returned to him after he had lost them in a trucking accident years before.
