This had what last 3 John Wick films lacked - heart AND soul - along with blazing action. Makes for a much more satisfying watch.

I love the John wick movies but you are completely right, that’s the thing that really made me love this movie

I really, really hope that JW5 will bring back the vibe of the first one, like a revival of the character and a simpler story. I LOVE the world building and everything in the recent movies, but the first one was emotional and mysterious. I feel like they kinda peaked with JW4 and I don't want them to go the "John Wick in space" way.

John wick 4 was one of the best action movies ever made. Definitely top 3
@Sublybubly9 ай бұрын
@@joebond545 ye that movie is incredible,my top action movies are John wick 4, the raid 1 and 2 and probably now monkey man

But one thing this movie lacked was world building compared to the John Wick movies. There is hint of the character's family (mom) and the current politics and environment, but not enough to get me excite if he wants to do another movie.

Just got out of the theatre. I liked that the hero is not ‘invincible’ from the get go. He is driven by rage and that makes him clumsy. He takes several hits before he finds his purpose and that transition was really fun to watch.

The shaky cam near the start of the action was a visual story telling decision to show how inexperienced he is at the start but after the training it’s a lot more wider but still containing some style, it was said in a interview with dev Pate, but also I think it also was a combination with the budget too

The lack of substance in big blockbuster action movies has made me sour on the genre over the years. Monkey Man doesn’t start with the best pacing for me. However once we dive into Patel’s backstory and what/who he is fighting for. I regained a passion that I haven’t had for action in years. The second hour had be hooked. It’s not flawless, but it’s a damn good job for a directorial debut. 8/10 as well

This is not a wall to wall action movie like The Raid or John Wick movies. But it is not like the Bourne or Bond movies neithers. But when there are fights, it is very raw. And he is not superhuman.

Monkey Man wow what a film, start to finish good acting, the set-pieces were stunning, and the choreography was great. 10/10 for a Dev Patel directorial debut and glad that Jordan Peele suggested a theatrical release and not a streaming platform and I can't stop thinking about this film 😀

If you had told me he almost died making this movie I would've believed you. So gritty and violent and brutally realistic. Patel put his blood sweat & tears into this. That elevator scene!! I mean wtf!!! 😂😂 oh man such an impressive directorial debut

I personally liked this movie. I just watched it today, I didn’t like how it ended. But I didn’t really mind the shakey cams, and I liked the growth of the protagonist. He went from loosing every boxing fight to winning every match. The action was good too, liked how similar the movie was to John wick while being very different.

It is a great movie and the indian lore (which i am familiar with) has been used beautifully. However, one must remember that the Indian lore amd culture is used simply as inspiration and its not a direct depiction of the Gods.. no parallels are drawn to show a connection between the character and the God except for Hanuman. It is sad to see that it wont be released for indian audiences.

Love it! Got to see it in Romania. As a person of Indian descent. I was cheering and proud. Love that Hanuman is given time on screen and all the lore. Loved the background music becoming the soundtrack for the fights. LOVE IT!

An action solely driven movie would have been a waste of time. The growth of the story added to the meaning behind the amazing final scenes of violence. Not really a John Wick clone... Think more the Matrix and being the One. Only he isn't invincible.

10 million budget is a lot in India. It's like a big budget movie in India." Revised: "A budget of 10 million is considered significant in India, often equating to a large-scale production. Such budgets are typically allocated to big-budget films in the Indian film industry, allowing for extensive production values, high-quality visuals, and notable talent. In comparison to Hollywood standards, this budget may be modest, but in the Indian context, it represents a substantial investment in filmmaking."

Hahaha ❤❤❤ I am not a fan of Patel nor monkey but yeh it would be a good superhero name. So it is more John wick rather than Bollywood’s spectacle. It’s not even an action movie ? Surely it ain’t Oldboy which is one of my all time revenge movie.😀👍
