As a BMW JUNKIE Mr Mike, I can honestly say the hood is way aftermarket. The top is aftermarket as well as the bumper. I like the black top but the hood and bumper would be first on the chopping bl9ck! 😁

The Multiair system is highly dependant on oil pressure for the inlet valves to function (& they need regular oil changes with the correct oil), when they sit for too long, the oil drains down, then when you go to start them, the valves don't open till the oil pressure builds up enough. A lot of people have this happen, & think the engines died/got a major problem, when all they need to do usually is crank it over enough to build the oil pressure up enough (& if you`ve got a crap battery, it may not get there). As far as the instruments coming & going, I`d say its likely to be a bad connection somewhere, or a dodgy earth. And happy new year to you & yours Mike!

Mike those V8 E9X M3s are so cool, they rev to 8k rpm, but rod bearings are considered a “maintenance item” and sounds like that one might be on the originals!!

Happy New Year mike this was a great walk around i enjoyed this alot and thay bmw was pretty nice but that after market hold looked so craopy but i did love the interior of it and that sucks about that Lexus that was once a really nice car it woukd be costly to fix. And that Chrysler 200 they remind me if the Chrysler Pacifica the front end of that car looks just like a Pacifica. Mike!! The GS is not a fancy Camry! It’s a totally bespoke platform. Toyota crown, chaser, aristo, GS all on same platform. Extremely high quality vehicle. The ES is Camry based and Avalon as well. Also super high quality. But the GS300/400/350/430/460 are all super super good cars much nicer than Toyota

I’ve always said - the worst thing about an old BMW is its previous owners. Even before you tried to start it I knew looking at all those “mods” the mechanicals would be severely neglected. Sure enough - rod knock. Probably never had the rod bearings done. You should def experience a e9x v8 m3. They are glorious! Just not this one

Forget the Chrysler, Mike. That MultiAir engine is a Fiat unit and, like all MultiAir engines, is total junk. At 140,000+ miles it's pretty much time to throw it in the bin.

Chrysler 200 has a 3.6 v6 (Pentastar) that is a bit better than the 2.4. Plus if you find a V6 you might get AWD. I have seen some with over 200,000 on it. I have a 12 Town and country with the Pentastar with over 200,000.
