Well done on selling the Geo Tracker during the summer and to a buyer that appreciates the nostalgia and unique design. I would advise the new owners to go with the factory steel wheels. They are designed to keep the Tracker at a specific ride height and width to mitigate roll-overs during emergency maneuvers. You are a good person ethically to fix the things that were worn and broken before selling it. Without any troubleshooting my guess is the idle air control valve/sensor is not working correctly. Spark plug wires may look okay from the outside but must be inspected for tears and cracks in the boot. Also inspect the outer silicone/rubber sheath for cracks and de-lamination. Also the resistance per foot of a spark plug wire increases with age and heat. If the resistance numbers are too high, the full voltage/amps wont be delivered to the spark plug gap.

There is also an enrichment valve when the AC is on or the defrost is on when you turn the fan on or the blower for the heater / AC so that can also cause an erratic idle issue it seems a bogus signal to the throttle position sensor I have also experienced a weak alternator causing an erratic idle issue😊

Most of the time erratic idle is caused by either the throttle position sensor or a sensor that has to do with the air-conditioning😊 enrichment valve or the throttle kick up

So I figured it out 98 to 2003 the Dakota RT was the high horsepower v8 small truck they called it the mighty dak😮😅 they're absolutely a neat and fun little truck good for about 300,000 miles they didn't fall apart instantly there is a Banks version of this truck banks did a supercharged ❤🎉 03 Dakota i😲😲🤔🙄😳👀🧐 to do believe and it was one heck of a truck♥️😉😎🤠
