Beautiful Lincoln. Those were the good solid metal and comfy cars.

Mike, I own a RAM and had a 78 Mk V so great video! The Lincoln exterior color is "Cream". It has the Interior Luxury Group option in "Cream" leather; the trim (dash, carpet, etc. ) is "Jubilee Gold". I had the identical interior colors. The Cartier clock was standard on all MK's; this car is not a Cartier. Cartier's were only "Champagne" paint with Champagne and red trim interiors. The headlight doors open indicate vacuum issue; various vacuum leaks common. 1978 was the last year for a 460 V8, more desirable than base 400. Vinyl tops were optional so trim could be removed and entire car painted Cream and forgo the vinyl top. The length of the car is 19'-2". Awesome cars; I'd like to see one brought back! Keep producing the great content!

A proper Frank Cannon mobile. There's a lot of work there, what's probably most crucial is the state of the metal under the vinyl top as the vinyl could have trapped moisture against the metal once it started to break down, and if the roof structure has rotted then, realistically it's a parts car.

Without a doubt, these are the best Highway Cruisers ever made. They just float down the highway. The power steering in these cars is fantastic, you could steer with your pinky. Like driving a couch down the highway.

I love watching your shows cause you never know what you’re gonna run all up into all the cars the 70s sometimes the 60s I knew somebody that had a 77 Lincoln might’ve been 76. Those things are a big old boat the front end of those things somebody wouldn’t even get hurt I’d go for that Lincoln Mikefix that up like you did with that. It was the trailblazer or the blazer bring life back to it find the owner that was gonna work on it taking him for a ride in it. Good luck.

Soooo, ya got MY vote on the MK VI, it has a 460 too, last year in full-size fords & lincolns, I REALLY think the body's condition overall is GOOD, that's why I say address the top & related rust areas around it FIRST

Mike in the video the radiator core support almost appears to have been burnt! All the factory paint is gone and it’s rusted. Did it have a carb supply hose leak and it caught fire and repaired? Very common! But with that said it still would warm my heart to see this old gal back on the road!!😃😁😃
@JamieCameron-Mackintosh-z7c20 күн бұрын
Mike, a tip for sorting the seat in your Ram is to find a passenger seat in the matching trim then dismantle that for the cover and foam cushion if it has collapsed or become squashed. The driver's seat gets used every time the vehicle does but the passenger seat doesn't get used anything like as much so the trim cloth and foam cushion doesn't take anything like as much wear and, for economy in building the vehicles, the passenger seat base cushion and trim are almost always identical to the driver's. Plus, passenger seats from a salvage yard are often a lot cheaper than driver's seats because a lot of people are looking for good driver's seats to replace the worn out one in their vehicle but not a lot of people know the trick about the seat bases often being identical so there's much less demand for passenger seats.

I got a feeling other than the top & those common rust spots, that MK VI is actually a nice vintage car. the carpet is a common color for interior accents in Fords of the periods, like if the interior says creme, which THAT is, the carpet & dash & lower door panels will be that shade of gold, & if ya DO geet it, first thing I'd do would be to address the top, I got a good feeling about what you'll see if ya give it a good bath, & those lincolns outta that period will literally FLOAT do the highway, like a couch, provided you can get it for a REASONABLE price, sounds like you'll be able to talk to the previous owner & find out a lot about it, & the actual colors OF that car ARE creme with creme interior & top, call it a "triple creme"

Mike's sense of fun is what makes his videos so enjoyable. At 230" in length, the Mark V was the longest 2 door coupe ever marketed by Ford. The Mark V was a hit when new and remains popular with Lincoln collectors. They are very easy to work on and restore. They do have a very thirsty 460 V8 - likely 9 mpg city and maybe 13/14 mpg highway. Neat low budget trick to wake up the 460: install timing gears from an earlier 460 (1970?) before they built in cam timing retard for emissions.

That Lincoln would be a hoot to get running! Watch the rust under the Landau top, though. Don't know how badly you want to weld sheet metal but you might need to. I'd rip the vinyl right off, save what you can and paint it. I've even seen people do a decent job of spraying bed liner on and making a longer lasting replacement (Junkyard Digs and Pole Barn Garage)
