Don’t give up on it Mike Keep going you’ve gone this far You’ll get there with it I had similar issues with our 300SE doing the brakes I seriously had trouble getting a kit for the rear Bendix callipers and park brake shoes too Ended getting parts from the USA couldn’t source suitable here in Australia 5 months yes 5 &$)$?? Months later it’s back on the road with excellent brakes I now have my shed back

You should clean up the inside of the red one real good, with Dawn soap and water 5:1 and a Libman Hand and Nail Brush on the leather, door panels, and carpet. Then put some leather conditioner on the seats, such as 3-1 leather conditioner from Griot's Garage, or Chemical Guys Leather Conditioner. You can find all that stuff at Wal Mart or AutoZone. It will really turn around the red one especially! You're really moving along here, I can't wait to see the S320 update! Good work!

I've had good luck with Lexol's conditioner & their cleaner.

Nope. I have shampooed that carpet about 15 different ways. The dawn soap (with window cleaner and alcohol and Oxy Clean), commercial ( Meguiars, Oxy Clean, TuffStuff) and steam cleaned it. I think the biggest thing is to try to wet vac it up as quickly as possible so that it does not settle back into the carpet, but I think that with rain events and maybe even mold, the carpet is discolored. Right now I got it as clean as I have seen it, and its about 70 to 80% of where it should be, but if. I knew what to get, I would probably try to re dye it. The leather seats, I have this stuff that fills in the cracks, and then you sand it down with a sander, and I am going to re dye them. The back seats were in much better shape that the front, less wear. I just don't think you will get that uniform color without re dye them. And I found a place that says they are exact color match. Parts of the leather side panels need it too. One thing that is essential to cleaning something like this are spin brushes from Autozone, I think about 10 bucks. Attach them to electric drill it works wonders.

Do you really have to take all that off for the 3 bolts? it seems after all that was out.. the little side panel was all that was needed to access the 3 bolts lol I just took mine apart and replaced the regulator but was hot and I was tired and put it all back together adn realized it was out of alignment so Im hoping I dont have to take it all back apart but even so the seats are easy and panel.. it was all the other bolts all over to get out regulator that was a RPITA

Some cars are like this. They FIGHT you, and I really don't know why. When I repair a clients car and it is like this, I just persevere (even if it takes me a lonnng time) and it really always ends up being a great repair. Just hang in there!! If you still have no desire to keep the car after all is said and done, then sell it and get something better! Life's too short already! ;)

You can clean those seats with scrubbing bubbles then leather cleaner and conditioner they will look like new.

Don't worry Mike, we all hate our cars when the spiteful SOB's won't play ball. I've just spent a week in limp home mode in my Passat, I've cursed the frickin' thing every day calling it a hateful POS. Today I found a pipe off the EGR valve and now she runs sweet again so all's good with the world now.
