I Taught Myself How To Weld, Here's The Result!!

The Mercedes W210 wagon rebuild continues! In this video, I'll teach myself how to weld and then reassemble several parts under the hood and bumper. Then I'll show you how to install new headlights to completely transform this Mercedes S210 wagon. Finally, I'll show you how to attach a Mercedes bumper, how to install a Mercedes fender, and how to align panel gaps.

I am soooooooo proud of you for trying welding! This will open up so many things for you. I taught myself to weld years ago when I had the choice between hiring someone to put floor pans in a 70 Mustang or spend the same for a welder and do it myself. This will make you look at projects in a totally new way. Get yourself an auto darkening welding helmet when you can. It makes it so much easier.

Certified You tube welder, I busted out on that one. 43 yrs wrenching here and yes I weld also. You have to just do it and you will become better, you should practice on a scrap piece of metal. As always Mike, I so enjoy your content. And your positive attitude.

It'll be so epic if MWM finds, saves, rebuild and keep as a collection of every generation Mercedes E-Class Wagon. He already owns the S124 and S210. All he needs now is a S123, S211 and a S212. S213 and S214 are too new and pricey. If he decides too, I'd definitely continue to follow and watch the videos to each one. 😊

Congratulations, Mike, on melting your first bits of metal together! Suggestion: Your next tool purchase should be a non-auto darkening welding helmet to protect the only two eyeballs you'll ever own for the next time you drag out the MIG welder. The automatic darkening helmets are nice until the battery dies, and then you see too much in the sparks department.

I`m impressed Mike, great move, learning to weld! Get yourself some auto dimming welding goggles, or a dimming mask (which is for when your laying upside down welding!) so you can watch what your doing while your doing it! You`ll be doing your own spraying next!

Hey Mike, the rear center headrest has a storage space. It slides into a bracket in front of the center seat bottom cushion.

Great job on the blind welding! Not bad for the first time. Why not take the parts off the car to be painted? (disassemble as much as possible). You'll achieve a much better paint job with no overspray.

You really need a helmet. Go by Harbor freight and buy a good one. Cheap hoods are not worth their money. It really helps to see your bead.
