🐒 STREET BATTLE - CAN A 30 YEAR OLD BMW E30 KEEP UP WITH AN EVO?
The BMW E36 is the third generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars, and was produced from 1990 to 2000. The initial models were of the four-door sedan body style, followed by the coupe, convertible, wagon ("Touring"), hatchback ("Compact") and the rare BAUR TC4 body styles in later years.
The E36 was the first 3 Series to be offered in a hatchback body style. It was also the first 3 Series to be available with a six-speed manual transmission (in the 1996 M3), a five-speed automatic transmission and a four-cylinder diesel engine. The multi-link rear suspension was also a significant upgrade as compared to the previous generations of the 3 Series. All-wheel drive was not available for the E36, unlike the previous (E30) and successive (E46) generations.
The E36 was named in Car and Driver magazine's 10Best list for every year it was on sale.[3]
The high performance E36 M3 is powered by the BMW S50 or BMW S52 straight-six engine (depending on country). The E36 M3 was introduced in 1992 and was available in coupé, sedan and convertible body styles.
Following the introduction of its successor, the E46 3 Series in 1998, the E36 began to be phased out and was eventually replaced in 1999. Development of the E36 began in 1981[4] and the exterior design was heavily influenced by aerodynamics, specifically the overall wedge shape, headlight covers and smaller wing mirrors.[5] The lead designers were Pinky Lai[6] and Boyke Boyer.[7][8]
The production version of the E36 was launched in October 1990, with press release in November and market launch in early 1991.[9][10]
The four-cylinder petrol engines used in the E36 range were initially engines carried over from the previous generation 3 Series: the BMW M40 SOHC engine and the BMW M42 DOHC engine. In 1993, the M40 was replaced by the BMW M43 SOHC engine and the M42 was replaced in 1996 by the BMW M44 DOHC engine.
For the six-cylinder models, the E36 was launched with the then-new BMW M50 DOHC petrol engine. In late 1992 the M50TU versions added single-VANOS (variable valve timing), which increased torque (peak power was unchanged). In 1995, the BMW M52 engine replaced the M50TU, resulting in the 328i model replacing the 325i and the addition of a new mid-range 323i model (powered by a 2.5 litre version of the M52).
In 1992, the 3.0 L BMW S50 engine debuted in the E36 M3. In 1995, its capacity was increased to 3.2 L Initially, the turbocharged straight-six BMW M51 engine was used in the E36 325td model. In 1993, the 325tds model was released, which added an intercooler to the M51. In 1994, the 318tds model was introduced, powered by the four-cylinder BMW M41 turbocharged and intercooled engine.
Drivetrain
The E36 was produced with the following transmissions:
5-speed manual
6-speed manual (1996-1999 M3- except for United States)
4-speed automatic
5-speed automatic
All models are rear-wheel drive, since the E36 was not produced with all-wheel drive (unlike its predecessor and successor).
Suspension
The sedan, coupé, convertible and Touring models use the "Z-axle" multilink suspension in the rear, which was introduced in the BMW Z1 roadster.
The hatchback ("Compact") models use a rear semi-trailing arm suspension based on the older E30 3 Series design. This was done in order to save space due to the truncated rear end of the hatchback.

Remember this guy has to comply with the "TUV" inspection that is insanely, INSANELY meticulous about what is allowed on German roads. The fact that he even can drive this car legally on the German roads is a testament to his ingenuity in passing their strict ridiculous rules. On one hand it's good that there's no junkers or cars with dangerous problems on the road. On the other after having solid tires, brakes, glass and no mechanical problems all the rest is just a money grab and about CONTROL over the freedoms of the people.

Exactly. There's a world of difference between establishing a reasonable standard of mechanical integrity and being absolute cunts. This is all the doing of car manufacturers and insurance companies. Manufacturers don't want people to build cool cars that only exaggerate the fact they are building more and more shitboxes that nobody wants to buy and insurance companies want to maximize profits by keeping enthusiasts off the roads, or at least bleeding them dry for it, keeping in mind you allow cars from the 50's, 60's and 70's to cruise around but god forbid your airbag light comes on.

Saw e30 and bang.!!! On it 😁 As an e30 nut for over 15 years I've had 4 of em. My last one was m52b28 swapped, m50 inlet manifold etc and 4 door too. Loved that thing. 5 years hard driving and only ever let me down twice. Once was water pump failure the second was ews failure which I had deleted and never a problem again after that 💪 The current e30 (my 4th) was a supercharged m52b28 with m50 inlet and Dinan supercharger etc. Wicked setup but as my username suggests, I've swapped it out to go v8 👀 I'll be supercharging the v8 aswel 👀😁 Awesome content yet again ML. Restecpa 🤙😎

Yeah running a bit extra oil now it creates a lot of G, do the same in the 32 and that's baffled. Think dry sump true way reakky

ML the gauge that was closest to camera is that the oil pressure because on hard cornering and high speeds it was dropping, don't know if evos are supposed to that lad

I couldn’t watch anything but that gauge…. I get 30 psi at tick over after a good beating up the road 2.0 C20let and same with an 2.0 ST150 fiesta both have capillary gauges and while harder revving am sure I get 65-70psi in the fiesta and 80psi with the C20let as it has a Motorsport oil pump. At first I thought possibly a digital gauge reading wrong but when it dropped during cornering 🤷‍♂️

@@MrTopdeadcentre yeah I've never had a oil guage so don't know if that's normal i never had a car with serious power for me to need one, but MLs went down to 20 psi at one point and if it is oil then at high revs I was suspecting that it could be starving the engine of oil, (that's if it is oil pressure)

Yeah I run 0.5 extra oil now all good, had that in a few fast cars as well do the same in 32 and that has baffles. Evo has two large oil coolers as well possible contributing factor
