I don’t watch soccer, or football as everyone but the US calls it pretty much lol. But something about this community and the players in it, at their highs and lows. It’s just so beautiful, even at their lows they can just spark something in a person. Reminds me of the time I was young maybe 5 or 6 my older brother used to play soccer I was so proud of him he inspired me so much, but once I found out he quit playing for so long I wondered why. Until now I’m older he finally told me that his abusive father made him quit (we have different fathers he lived in a separate household from me, we were still very close since my birth he even said it was going to be a girl he wanted a sister so bad and when it happened we were close I always thought of him as my big brother 100%) ever since that day I felt miserable for not knowing, he soon moved out of his dads house to my house with my grandparents (I lived with my grandparents not my mother or father he used to live with his father but never our biological mother at the time until he was like 20) and at the time my grandmother made him go to work since he was already 16 or something at the time (I was 4 years younger) anyways he went to work and had to give my grandmother all his paycheck he also couldn’t bring any food for lunch break making him starving during his hours he then stole something from the store (some chips or I think it was gummy bears) and was later fired and kicked out of the house I never seen my brother so sad and pissed off they had an entire fight and then I remembered the time we were so close when he played soccer and would even play with me time to time then I realized we would never get those times back that’s the day I lost all hope in wanting to play the sport even though I wanted to follow it as my dream career for the rest of my life even without the approval of my grandparents in fact they hated the idea said I’d suck at it and was already too behind as the other kids were just going to bully me for the stupid idea since I would suck so bad, they told me that I couldn’t chase fairytales and looloo land, that I shouldn’t have my head stuck up in the clouds, that I should stop dreaming as it would never become reality, that I would never make a living from it, would go poor on the streets and to not call them when I did, and that I’d never get a real job or career of any kind with those absurd thoughts now me and my brother don’t really talk anymore and I only get to see him sometimes on the weekends he was the only one who would believe anything I did could become a reality, that I was really smart even when the very people who feed, shelter, and keep me warm said I was useless and stupid. More Info if you wanna read I guess… Still to this day he’s stuck doing dirty work for my grandmother just to take care of her needs and our uncle who has seizures is blind, and disabled to the waist down, he also cannot see or speak anyway he gets a pretty good pay for doing it and now has a girlfriend who just recently took him on a cruise although her grandmother doesn’t approve of him I’m just happy he’s found someone to be happy with now that I’m 15 me and my brother had a conversation on the drive from plainwell back to my grandparents house I was worried and didn’t know what I’d do with my life now that my grandmother wants me to start working to I was worried by doing that I wouldn’t be able to keep up my work and would flunk one of my classes that semester missing the chance of a good education in college by getting recommended to go for free without an intuition fee so I could lose connections with my grandparents he had a serious talk with me it was night about 9pm pushing on 10 and we exchanged worries and thoughts to each other and that’s when I remembered the time he’d always get criticized of his grades in front of me by my grandmother saying that a Middle schooler (flashback to the past/ in present moment was no longer middle school but in Highschool) had better grades the whole year that that of just one year of my brothers in Highschool and that very same day I realized and promised that my brother wasn’t calling me smart because he wanted me to believe it, it was because he probably thought that I really was smart, or at least smarter then him but grades don’t define being smart it just gives you a grade on how well you can solve and break down a complex question and make a educated answer with some understanding to how you got that, so that day on I decided that I would really become smart I would actually do good in school while choosing a major profession that could sustain my living and my brothers because I wouldn’t believe in myself if it wasn’t for him and then learn from that profession study that profession and ACE THAT VERY PROFESSION
