Wow. Nice job on both. Love the paint job on the Trumpeter kit. I love what you did with the paint modulation on the Monogram kit (I remember that kit being a bit of a dog, even 30 years ago). As a former 82d airborne, you really captured the look of an aircraft that has just emptied all troopers / cargo.

I like doing display bases for my models. If you do one, keep in mind that different woods will absorb the stain differently. You can always do more than one coat, but I would wait 24 hours between coats. If you do varnish, apply a coat, wait 24 hours (minimum), hit it with some 0000 steel wool, go over it with a tack cloth, then reapply the varnish. If you do 3-4 coats like this, you can get a glass smooth, high gloss, furniture-like finish that looks awesome!

Great work Brett on both planes. The monogram one turned out great and love the color modulation. That cause the raise panel lines in different light to give dark and light panels. Just a great job.....😊😊😊😊

Love the contrast between the two kits! A thought on the insignia deals: would it work better if you sprayed the full blue layer, added the negative pieces of the star and bars, then laid down the white directly on top of the blue? Seems like that would reduce some of the white bleeding out at the edge.

Yes, spraying the blue first and then the white is certainly a possibility, I just always seem to have trouble spraying white over darker colors like the blue, thats why I chose to do it in the order I did.

You need to figure out a tiny paint roller or paint mop, for those hastily added features. See how well it turns out. Both are absolutely gorgeous. What UV resin did you use for the lamp glass, if you don't mind my asking. I've recently tried doing something similar on a hotwheels car, but uses the wifes uv cure nail art stuff doesn't quite do it right.

The UV resin I'm using is from Kisrel, I've really liked it, easy to use, cures fast, and when fully cure can be sanded and polished. I like it, got it off of amazon.

I really enjoyed this build. Nice to see the old Monogram kit as well! I was wondering if you were going to restore the raised panel lines on the Monogram kit. If you did, do you have a preferred method? I learn a lot watching your techniques and would like to know!

I didn't restore the raised panel lines, I've seen people do it with stretched sprue, but that was way more effort than I wanted to put into it.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that either! I'm working on a Monogram B-58. I've tried Perfect Plastic Putty or Mr. Surfacer 500 between tape to restore the panel lines. The PPP didn't really work. The Mr. Surfacer works well enough, but not perfect. And it is still a lot of work. Keep up the great videos!💪

Awesome builds! Can you elaborate on the prop-discs you used for the inflight model? Like where did you get those? Did you need to paint them?

They are quite large, but not as much paint as you'd imagine. Be cause I'm thinning them alot, a little paint goes a long ways.

Great video!!! I can’t seem to get the aqua gloss to spray and lay as well as you do. I’m really struggling with that and often go back to using future. I think the staining on the trumpeter belly is from the oils and soot draining back from the engines, gathering in the flap wells and then draining out and aft onto the belly at the lowest point. Keep up the great work. Very inspiring stuff!!!

I find it helps to thin the aqua gloss with Tamya X-20A, maybe about 60/40 Gloss/Thinner, this helps it spray better, I find aqua gloss a little thick out of the bottle. Maybe this will help.

Will chipping fluids work with Tamiya acrylics, seeing as they're alcohol-based and not water-based?
