"MONOLITH: RESHAPING THE BLACK IDENTITY" Is a found footage film comprised of several notable figures in the black community throughout various different time periods as they each give personal anecdotes regarding their experiences dealing with defining their identity as a black person in a world where black people are hardly allowed to freely express themselves without being put into a category. It is such a systematic notion of thought that its constraints on black individuality act as chains that only black people as a community must break. In order to truly be our own people and not be deemed a contorted amalgamation of our hardships. Or, in other words, a monolith. Featuring: Gil Scott Heron, Joanne Nchimbi, Donald Glover, Tyler, The Creator, James Baldwin, Nia Simone, and Lil Wayne.
