@@glen3509 on the dvd commentary of the first Transformers movie, Michael Bay thought Frank Welker’s voice wouldn’t fit for Megatron in the 2007 movie so Hugo Weaving was casted.

​@glen3509 It was a legitimate reason though. He auditioned but was turned down because he used his original high pitched G1 cartoon voice. Bay assumed it wouldn't fit with the darker, grittier and...spikier tone of movie Megs. He voiced him in the movie game, though. Personally, I'm inclined to agree that it didn't fit very well at all. Luckily he had time to work on it for Transformers Prime and did great there, so the producers were convinced to bring him back. I'm glad he got the time he needed because he killed it in AOE and TLK.
