A not so quick romp on a Monoprice 15W tube amp which was lent to me.

I'll bet that Tone control is a Vox style cut control. Supposedly these are clones of the Laney Cub 12R, which looks to be just a JCM 800 preamp driving a fixed bias 2xEL84 power section.

Interesting. It's a great sounding little amp, for sure.

With a modification of a dual ganged gain pot that controls 2 stages at the same time. But otherwise jcm800 preamp.

Hi Sean. I picked one of these up yesterday for a stupid low price and I’ve been watching lots of KZbin reviews. Funnily enough I didn’t know you had a KZbin channel. Some friend I am, huh? Anyway, nice review and always great to hear your playing.

That's a great blues and classic rock amp sound. I bet it takes pedals well. Your neck pickup leads are cutting through like Eric Clapton Cream tone, and the bridge is Angus an Malcom young Marshall rore.

The tone knob adjusts the EQ on the reverb.

That's why I hate to not have a manual for something like this. I would never have guessed that.

I would love to of heard the clean sounds if you were able to instead of the big boy KERRANNNG RACKET.

Honestly, as a clean amp, it was a little bit dull sounding, but I think its target audience is mostly for people that like Marshall sounds. Either way, though, that amp is gone so I can’t do any more demos of it.

I bought this amp a couple years ago. I can't use it because it gives this high-pitched annoying Buzz or hiss that is omnipresent. I've never owned a tube amp I couldn't find where the Buzz was coming from. I haven't heard anybody else have the same issue But I know that it's not normal. It was sitting in a closet until I had enough money to take it to a proper amp mechanic to look at. I just got it to an amp tech. After all is said and done I've lost the cost of the amp and the $75 deposit I paid the tech to fix the buzz. After the amp gets warmed up it rattles and creates a buzz that will sit on the top of your sound. The tech said when he opened it up everything fell apart as everything was glued in. He tried to put in new tubes and it still made the sound then he said the speaker was causing it and that it would need to be replaced. It's cleap parts and glued together. Stay away.

Next time do a 3 part diagnostic procedure. First run it out to a different speaker cabinet to see if the issue goes away. If not run the preamp into the power amp of another amplifier to isolate the power amp as the culprit. If that doesn’t work, take the preamp of another amplifier into the power amp of the amplifier being tested to isolate the preamp. If the issue goes away under one of those 3 scenarios - you have isolated where the issue is to a better degree. Then a speaker change or tube change - depending if preamp or power amp will save you a lot of dough. If you do all that and can’t isolate/diagnose the issue - then bring to an amplifier technician

Useless for me. I wanted to hear the clean tones and exactly where it started to distort.
