Thanks for the upload! I teach electronics at university and I plan to make my students design a eurorack compatible sampler as a project. As I don't own one, your video gave me some insights on what CV input the sampler should get.

Thank you! And guess so, modules like the Morphagene are a lot more popular, but I really like the straight forwardness of the 4MS, excelent for planned live performances.

I would like to have seen something on the Disting Mk IV as I’ve found it a little restrictive as a sample player- all samples are looped and there seems to be no way to trigger one-shots. Fortunately, I have an Erica Synths Sample Drum on the way…
@MonotrailTechTalk2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, planned it for some time, but it's complex. The Disting has (if i recall correct) four different sample modes. One is the looping style with playback speed. But there's also a one-shot mode and a mode with 1v/oct tracking. It's not the most acurate though, so if you like to do drums and tight sample stuff I think you will be very happy with the Sample Drum!
@in_10z4 жыл бұрын
Love the graphics! Have you considered matching the color standard from Patch & Tweak bible? yellow = audio, red = triggers and gates, gray = 1/V oct CV, blue = all other CV, green = random clocks.
@MonotrailTechTalk4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Actually did :) Eventually went with these colours because I had the plan to be able to mach my graphics with the cables I use in real life, as I like those, but so far that's been to much of a stretch really. But now I think ill stick with it :)
@jonaseggen22304 жыл бұрын
Haven't tried it yet but I suppose it would be cool to sample CV, like sequences or complex envelopes and then manipulate them with the Start, Length and Reverse and maybe even pitch?
@MonotrailTechTalk4 жыл бұрын
That would be cool! But I'm pretty sure the 4MS doesn't record/playback cv, but that's worth checking out!
@xnflg30743 жыл бұрын
Erica Black Joystick 2 can record CV in the form of movements made with the stick itself. Super cool.
@Daforwin3 жыл бұрын
What do you think about the Erica Synth Sample Drum? I see you don't mention it, i like it by the fact it has a screen so you can visually know what you're doing
@MonotrailTechTalk3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I love Erica Synths, all solid stuff. I focussed a bit more on longer recordings and non-drum tricks in this one, but the Sample Drum is great for percussive sounds. Especially being able to record and edit those recordings on screen.

How do you about recording your samples, what format, tools, mic's, I have a sample drum with a micro SD card, but struggle with transferring them to the SD, you think a Zoom recorder , just wondering quickest cheapest best & format, how do you recorded samples? thank you for your channel, once you get past the other you tube videos, "from other you tubers" my new car priced equipment you were like walking thru the coat closet into Narnia, finally some one that makes since ...

great video but it's not fair at all to describe Nebulae as a 'happy accidents' machine together with Morphagene. quite the contrary, in contrast with MakeNoise's pseudo-experimental paradigm where they basically do not give you all the normal controls, and bunch a few of those together under a single knob with preset behaviour (like the morph does), Nebulae has all the basic sampler/looper controls exposed and those behave in a very logical and predictable way. this really allows one to be experimental if they so desire. and it's the same with 4ms modules, both STS and DLD and Tapo. on the other hand, MN really force users to constant happy (and often sad) accidents. Nebulae is also pristine sounding (well, within the Eurorack limited standards that is), while MN gives no shit about the noise floor. finally, both Nebulae and Morphagene are more loopers than samplers, closer to DLD in a way than to STS which is a sample PLAYER rather
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the update. Have to admit I wish I had time to properly explore and deep-dive with all modules! Hope it didn't come across in a wrong way though. I wanted to mention Nebulae and Morphagene as they are popular modules and interesting options! I use the straight-forward sample select options a lot, but other and or altarnatives are not less-valuable ideas :)
@yurijogurtsov8710 Жыл бұрын
@@MonotrailTechTalk surely not wrong, and generally your approach to videos is the most clear and educational. I just wanted to expand or correct for those who's got interested but could probably be little bit misguided. MN steals all the shows often ;) and I was sorta wrong myself to claim the N is closer to DLD, that's a stretch, beg a pardon. take care
