That relationship was heart and center of the whole show. Great characters, complicated relationship both worked on and powered through, a script that made sense, paired with good acting. Unlike that narrative mess that was the Nick/Juliette/Renard/Adaline arc.

@@svenwagner4717 yeah, Nick and Juliette were also a real good couple at the start but then came the whole “Juliette falling into a comma and forgetting nick” . I liked both Renard and Juliette as characters but it was weird as a couple. Nick and Juliette’s chemistry was also real cause well, they became a couple irl

@@Swissswoosher Renard was awesome. A villain eventually becoming an ally. And the actor really pulled off both sides. The series could have lived without that 'steal your girl' plot though. Especially if it is achieved by such a lazy plot device as memory loss.

They really ruined this dynamic between Renard and the team in the last 2 seasons. One of the reasons 5 and 6 sucked.

Was it really ruined? There were hints from season 1 that Renard desired power and was just waiting for the right moment for that. I did like Renard, but I knew sooner or later, when the moments come, he will side for the one that can give him a throne. Well, season 5 clawed into our beloved show!

@@movienaut While yes, we saw hints of that. Throughout seasons 1-4, you actually see Renard care for Nick and his team. Not just because they're strong allies against his family, but because he grew appreciate them. When Monroe was kidnaped, Renard showed how much he cared for him and went to extreme lengths with the others to find him. One of my favorite scenes was the whole team walking out of the precinct united to save Monroe. And here, Renard shows immense remorse for what he did under Jack's control. That shows he has a moral compass. But that went out the front door in season 5. And the writers tried to fix it in season 6 near the end, but failed.

@@ahsokarules2369 While those are very good points, you could also say that Renard was haunted by being of Royal blood. But the moment he realised that the royals would rather kill him off, he decided to ally himself with the Grimm, because its more of a safe bet than continue serve a family that won't do him any favors. But I allways found Renard easily manipulated. Correct me if Im wrong, but didn't Hexenliette sleep with Renard during season 4 and he was quiet about it? Renard, how much you may like him, he isn't 100 % honest on the long run! But I would say he is at least 85 % honest and 94 % reliable!
