These arent your normal bluegill!!!! Took my dad to East Texas for a day of Monster bluegill fishing. Using worms and jigs, we threw everything we had at them and boated some giant bluegill to take home. Not only are they big, they are STRONG.... I would love to catch some of the bluegills. I just recently moved to Dallas/Frisco Texas. Back in NC I was fishing every weekend with my Dad and Granddad fellowshipping with them for Crappie and Bluegills. So I’m over due to catch some fish and make friends that can grow and nurture me through the gift of fishing. God bless

I love your show brotha! I was born in Austin TX fishing in Bastrop County with my uncles. My dad was never an outdoors person so fishing when his job moved us to Dallas died off except summers when we went home. This made me go get a license yesterday. Wish I could find huge bluegills. I finally after so many years. I got pops fishing again. He’s not as strong as he was younger but glad he’s wanting to go back out there. 👍🏼

Many anglers do not practice selective harvest..I get it those really big donkey gills are hard to let go..hand size is pan size..for me if the gill is 9 inch or bigger goes back, until they become the standard..then it's all about weight then. 12 oz are bigger release. I wish I could say I have caught a 12 oz or bigger.

Man that is old school and I played that roll. Broke line pull in alot of big blue gills. I start of with a cane pole end up with all types of rods and reels. All down in creeks and pin oaks in Arkansas, Alabama, on the Mississippi River. We ate so many blue gills and crappies the garbage was all bones from eight people. I would love to come and fish with you and dad. Keep the line wet in the time you have to fish and maybe you catch enough to feed the family.👍

I enjoy the handling of the blue gill. There is a place called Red Lake in Butler, Texas that has giant blue gills like that too. It's a private Lake, but know a guy that lives there that told me that I can fish there and bring anyone that I want to bring.

Decent lakes, just have to watch out for the moccasins. They're EVERYWHERE, specially around the shoreline. And the corovina will put a screaming on your reel, if they snatch a 'gill off your line, but a great fight! If ya like crappie, try Lake Fork. FAT monster slabs!

We went yesterday bream fishing after a 5 inch rain the day before. very few fish and I managed to fall in LOL. I was trying out a new base for my seat and I guess I was a little bit top heavy. I just barely leaned to the right and right in I went in classic slow motion! lost my glasses and ruined my phone but the water was fine. Yep, this old cripple fat guy still floats! some awesome gills there!

Yes they do! Year after year if you dont tax the bed too much you can definitely go back and harevest them
