My brother and I are avid crappie fishermen. We fish at night when its super hot with minnows fishing straight down on brush piles. We do not like the green submersible lights they do not bring in plankton nor baitfish like the white or incandescent test tube style lights do. One other thing we have Proven to ourselves is we Do Not fish within 3 or 4 days either side of the New or dark moon. The plankton dont come. The baitfish dont come. The crappie dont come. We save our time, fuel and money for better days. Crappie dont bite good around the new moon day or night-Proven fact.

Just got into crappie fishing a month ago. I’ve had my channel for four years but mainly targeted catfish, carp and saltwater fish. Crushed the crappie jigging off a bridge a month ago.
