That‘s bullocks. Statistically speaking, we have no clue because neither Eddie nor Thor pulled 470kg x 3 before their successful lifts (as far as we know). Numerically, this is BS as well because the numbers don’t scale like this in this weight regions.

@@m.w.4508 You are aware that you can't mentally dibs 505 just because you think you could probably have lifted it. Hicksy is going for 505 and you'll see that on the night. Thor can't claim 505 just because you think it looked easy.
@m.w.4508
@m.w.4508 6 ай бұрын
@@LambClone @LambClone "Looked like he could have done" doesn't mean "I'm saying he did, factually do it." Let me clarify; Hicksey pulling 505Kg will be mind-blowingly impressive and will illicit a proportional response. *IF* he's the only one to do it. But, If Thor pulls 505Kg, everyone will go "well, yeah. He should have done more. We knew that he could do that already..." regardless of the fact that he hasn't yet. The general perception/opinion is that he could have done it already in 2020 and that 505Kg is a little bit "beneath him" for want of a better term. UNLESS he attempts it and fails it, which he hasn't yet. The *perception* is still that he could do it "easily." We've got ahead of ourselves as spectators, in that regard. However, even though Hicksey is currently pulling more in the gym than Thor - on camera, at least - the perception that he's a monster that can hit 505Kg "easily" still isn't there right now, and rightly so. That's spectators being uncharacteristically rational, for a change. Hicksey knows as well as Thor knows that Thor himself could - pretty easily in comparison to the rest of how the strongman field would make it look - pull 505Kg. That's why I'm saying that neither Thor nor Hicksey would be wise to aim for "only" 505Kg. They are both fiercely competitive people that want to leave their mark on strength athletics and likely wouldn't want to settle for sharing the 505Kg record with anyone. Thor would be heavily underestimating Graham if he thought he couldn't pull 505Kg. I think he's sincerely stated on record recently that he thinks Graham can/will do it, actually. I can only speculate. But, being the "first to do it" doesn't seem like it would be enough for either man in this situation. They likely want to be "the only one" to have ever done it. I don't think that Hicksey would go through all of this effort and hardship for 505Kg, only to have Thor come along and equal OR BETTER his lift. There's no payoff in "doing it first" if your record only stands for mere moments before someone else comes along to scrub it with a better record. I don't think that risk was there for Eddie when he initially lifted 500Kg. Nobody seemed even marginally close to being able to hit that number. People laughed at Makarov for trying. Now, we have at least 3 guys going for MORE than 500Kg in one season. Granted, one of those guys is still Makarov... but, still. It's a different time. I know Giants Live have just doubled-down on their intention to put 505Kg on the bar in reply to my original comment. But, I wouldn't be surprised to see that number change as the months go on. Especially if Graham's programming progresses the way it has recently and he stays injury free right up until before September. It's all good that Graham is proving his work in the gym is paying off. But, as we know from past experience, Thor isn't one to give away all of his secrets on camera and is a MASTER of peaking at the right time. GL are a smart promotion. It's no secret that their working relationship with Thor is effectively nonexistent now. They're investing time and effort in promoting and building Hicksey's attempt and won't want to have it potentially blown to dust by Thor in a different company/comp. We see how heavily they still rely on pushing Eddie and his achievements in their content. They need that next, big, breakout star and achievement to their name. Again, I think we'll see a 510Kg attempt start to get promoted by GL and others sooner than we expect.
