The elephant decided not to kill them. The dad had nothing to do with it, he could have just as easily been crushed along with his whole family. It just comes down to what the elephant wanted to do to them, and it decided not to crush them. There’s no heroism or respect or anything impacting this from the human perspective aside from the dad’s decision to put them them at the elephant’s mercy. @e.wwwwww11 ай бұрын
Monster is a word colloquially used to describe something that is very large in size (I.E monster truck). This bull elephant is not only HUGE even for an elephant, but in rut from the looks of it, which is when they are their most dangerous. I love elephants and totally agree that they’re gentle giants who deserve our kindness and respect, but part of that respect is acknowledging and accepting the fact that these things are HUGE compared to most living things and could/would flatten us in a second if we gave them a reason😅 Monster isn’t a derogatory term in this case, but simply a term used to describe the sheer size and strength of this, as you said, MAGNIFICENT creature. God bless 🙏🏻✝️

this elephant blessed you. i am so jealous elephants can actually feel and smell danger as opposed to fear. and they have an almost ridiculous sense of hearing. they can hear small grumbling communication from herds miles away. he hears your babies. in any encounter i have seen, and it is in the thousands, NEVER have i seen a child hurt. that includes bulls in full musk. elephants very seldom walk backwards that far. this elephant is giving that driver the message he can pass unharmed. he knows they are scared so he steps back. his trunk is down, ears relaxed. it is a magnificent beast, but i have seen many encounters and this one isnt the best, but it stands out. i suppose if i was there it would feel like an amazing one of a kind, thus the best. i did watch it again and it reacted everytime a childs voice is heard. if there were no children, he would have moved off the road and just kept going. probably would have had a little chuckle as he walked past, even stuck his trunk in. i love elephants so much, i am right now making a small 'reborn' elephant. so am studying them.

Need to listen to tape. The elephant was displaying dominant and territorial displays, walking towards the car, in front of car from way off. He is also alone, the heard moving closer and closer. That elephant was telling you in his terms, that he is going to take care of business. Leave respectfully, to preserve his status. And no, just because he moved to the side means nothing, as he moved towards the heard, not away from them. He was telling you these are his, you are not welcome, you will leave one way or the other. Bulls do the same thing. They to, will move towards their heard, before they take care of business, human. And don't expect a charge, more of a mosey on up to and take care of business.

When it stepped aside to your right, it put itself directly between you and the herd, doing it's best to inform you of it's reason for approaching you, not so that you could pass. If you had tried to pass, it would've thought you intended to bypass it's guard in order to approach the herd, and it would've charged immediately. Of course, you could not move left so you should've backed up way sooner. You are very lucky that this particular elephant was this patient.

Optimus27 sure. Keep thinking that and it'll be shriveled up before you can complain your insecurities to another creature. Arrogance at its finest and no understanding of why we are just one of many species in a global ecosystem. It gives us what we need, not us providing for the world.
@Ali-mj2gm6 жыл бұрын
Optimus27 you forgot micro predators: microbes, mosquitoes, bacteria and protozoans, which are taking more of a toll with out higher population concentrations. And no you couldn’t kill every single creature because we haven’t reached all of them and there are some we haven’t detected right under our noses. Are you implying it would be alright by you if we suddenly did go on a mass murder spree? And based on our current rate of resource use, it’s not our land alone because we don’t understand how every single aspect of the physical, chemical, and biological aspects factor into our global ecosystem. Basically we’re trashing our planet at this rate without fully understanding and taking initiative of how we can be better and make it common practice. Instead, people who claim their research off of anti vaccination blogs are attempting to refute the hard work of scientists around the world - well versed in their field and whom dedicate their lives to this - as an excuse to continue their unsustainable life style choices. Should we have no admiration or respect for our world? Being smart and advanced doesn’t mean we can go out and kick elephants and claim we’re superior. The species that do best adapt to change fastest. Since a lot of humans are unwilling to change their ways and make any efforts to help the world they live in, I worry about if this species will even be considered fit by evolutionary standards and not use the brain we have that got us this far.
@somerandom76726 жыл бұрын
Ali Ajaj No. I respect these animals but we do let them survive and it's only their land because we allow it. If I want to go out there I'll go out there.

Jack Lewis fine by me, but do me a favor. Have some respect for it. It has a broader indirect but sure impact on your quality of life. Just like most people are unaware that 70% of your oxygen comes from the ocean yet people are butthurt about changing their mass consumer and single use plastic lifestyles. Trading short term happiness for a trashed environment which will cause long term but severely damaging effects even on us.

I love all the fucking online biologist in the comments. The guy in the video did just fine. He didnt become all eratic and try to haul ass out of there. "the elephant gestured to move by". No, the elephant was just being an elephant, moving to stay between the herd and the car. Guides will actually tell you, if a elephant starts becoming to curious and intrested in you, to NOT haul ass outta there. It promotes unwanted behavior between elephants and vehicles. One of bull elephants favorite past times is to chase things to feel dominant. Just a few scared people in a car. Yet everyone in the comments is talking shit, and calling them names. Grow up.

Also, his kids will remember this for the rest of their lives, in the long run they’ll be glad they stayed and got within feet of one of the largest animals on earth. A potentially dangerous situation, but the entire family reacted pretty well. The dad turned off the engine and didn't try to turn around or pass the elephant; he decided to be cautious and it paid off. The kids were mostly calm and delighted at being that close; they were all understandably nervous but kept their voices down. That and not having the engine running seemed to keep the elephant from being angry or frightened; he acted calm, even a bit curious. Only when the car restarted and had backed up did he give a bit of a threat display. Love the dad pointing out that they were on the elephant's schedule, "elephant time", not theirs. A poetic and wise observation.
@SaumBodhi6 жыл бұрын

I live in a country with wild elephabts, they can become enraged by things you don't hear or notice. They can stomp a car as flat as a junkyard car crusher. The correct response was to back away from the elephant before he got close. Elephants can only run 15 mph. Rationalizing about what the elephant wants ot is thinking is useless. The elephant is in NO WAY concerned that you will hurt it, the position of the ears is a challange..

RAZOR'S EDGE- Chiang Mai Still, even if it could it doesn’t justify us harming them, or harm coming to them. Even if they become enraged, we shouldn’t kill them.

15 mph ? Sorry they can run much faster, more than a human. 15 mph is below top speed of humans...you’re saying we can outrun them ?
@davidbarbee12765 жыл бұрын
Klaus Pallesen The world record speed for an Olympic sprinter in the 100 meters is just under 10 seconds, which is an average of 33 feet per second, or 22.5 miles per hour (36 kilometers per hour). That is nearly twice as fast as the average healthy human. So actually few humans can actually run 15 mph. But I agree, I have seen video of elephants charging vehicles which seen to show a dash speed perhaps a little faster than that, but still probably only around 20 mph maybe. I’m not an expert on elephants, but 15 seems a little slow, and certainly faster than the average human.
