This is the best Pentair FB tank video on youtube! (And I know 'cuz I suffered through more than I care to count prior to watching yours!) I have several of these tanks, ranging from 270g to 600g) and they are perfect for my purpose...and, it appears, for yours also. Your pros and cons were spot on. Thank you especially for discussing how you set up your filtration. I had purchased their box filter that goes with these tanks. They work fine, but I strongly prefer my sumped tanks. Thus the reason I started to dig around on KZbin, as I work toward "upping the ante." Excellent video and exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!!

Is the viewing window glass or acrylic ?

I couldn't find any info on these tanks, found this video in a random good search. Thanks.

Did you drill it the same way you drill acrylic?

Yep. Same hole saw as acrylic

Great video! Looking to do a 725 gallon shark build. Could the low quality glass be removed and higher quality installed?

This is premium aquarium content and worth many more views than it has.

Wow! I’m tired just listening to all the work you had to do. Great info and Plop is a very lucky fish to have someone taking such good care of him! 🐠 🐠🐠

Great video. It sounded like you said you were able to buy a complete system off the pentair website? I am having trouble finding it? Looks like the "filter tank" below is of equal size to the fishes tank?

Someone really needs to reality check this company. I very much appreciate this video and the few other videos online on this product. I have been researching proper tanks for viewing my fish farm animals and I don't want something junky. I had a feeling that these would be very strong and durable but I also want quality. These things are very expensive for no more technology that goes into them. I would expect much greater Aesthetics for the insane amount of money you get. This is a great product I'm sure it's for his durability. Thank you again for this video.

Have you found a good alternative?

@@futureintherearview3025 it depends. There doesn't seem to be any direct competitor to this product. But, you can install a decent quality window into a different style of tank. This product still fits certain need. It's just such a shame that the quality control is seemingly so low. One thing I would like to say, is that if these are going on a concrete floor which is heavy as they would be, they definitely should be on a concrete floor, you can cast a concrete tank and put in a window for about the same money. But with concrete testing you should make a larger pond. I will say this as well, I would buy one of these before trying to make my own tank out of something like wood. There are different qualities of lumber and screws out there. It's rare to build a good quality tank out of wood and fiberglass. Someone out there should rescue us from questionable quality and high prices LOL. Come on inventors help us.

In your automatic drip change are you using a r.o system or are you using aged treated water in a separate container pumped in? Or just a basic carbon type filter
@davidramsaur19843 жыл бұрын
Can you explain or do a video on your auto water change with a sump. My question is how to you plumb an overflow in the sump and deal with water level rising in overflow when you lose power (assume this extra water goes out overflow on sump)? Thanks for your help.
@futureintherearview30253 жыл бұрын
I can do a video when I have some time but essentially my “overflow” is just a bulkhead installed into the hole that I drilled in the sump. In a power loss situation, the water will indeed flow out the bulkhead without issue. That is actually how I do my water changes as well (more of a flow through system rather than removing x amount of water and replacing with fresh water). If I did lose power, excess water would drain from the sump. Once the power turned back on, the loss would be replaced 3gph at a time until it reaches the bulkhead again. There is, however, enough volume in the sump to accommodate all of the water that would overflow during a power loss situation. Hope this helps!

How thick is the glass and the fiberglass around the tank?
@futureintherearview30253 жыл бұрын
Glass is probably 1/4” or less. Fiberglass is probably 1/8” or less.

Good content, keep up the good work. I must have missed it, but what kind of paint did you use to paint the inside black? I just got one myself and the blue is not cutting it for me. Found it, you said pond armor. Did you have to do any prep like sanding?
