they cannot do a regular hem at this scale with these kind of fabrics without it looking ugly and bulky, heat sealed edges is the next best thing. my only complain with this particular doll is the use of velcro, it looks and *sounds* so cheap. plastic snaps wouldve been enough. and also why couldnt they wrap a strand of hair around the elastic on her ponytail? that wouldve been a nice touch, especially at this price point. overall shes a great doll, i wish i could get her. great review and wb!

Agreed. Seams at this scale would have been bulky and ugly. The satin is probably cut with a hot knife that heat seals the cut as it happens (so it won’t or shouldn’t ravel). The other fabrics don’t need to be finished as they don’t ravel at all.

Look at the clothing fabrication on the Disney limited edition dolls that are at the same price point for comparison. NO comparison! Those gowns are couture & well-sewn. Even the Rainbow High clothes at a much lower price point have sewn seams, usable pockets, etc.

original barbie had hems, laces, aglets,zippers, buttons, etc. you absolutely can do all of this at this scale, it just takes time and handcrafting, something that large factories and producers don’t want because of how little money it makes them in comparison. for $150, in this economy? we should be getting original sculpts, original outfits, original fabrics/prints, high quality accessories/stands/boxes. this is a collectors item and they are honestly treating it with a similar level of production care as barely above a play level doll. at least this time they finally put the 2 per person limit so for the first time ever actual people are getting these dolls instead of scalpers

I think the doll is generally nice with cool elements, but I feel like all those things should be bare minimum quality atp in time, charging $150 for bare minimum is nuts, like even the bratz designer collabs have infinitely better quality and those dolls are $40-$60, like the Kylie Jenner doll has a full gown situation too and that doll is $30, like Mattel needs to be so serious 😭, the only time they want to pull out bare minimum quality is for the collector dolls when that should be the standard for playline, then they should go above and beyond for the collector dolls

Girl rainbow high play line dolls are better than this. Some of them have lined jackets, real pockets, and finished edges, plus they often do fabric bags. The plastic bag feels like a cop out.

I feel like they did too much to her face and it kinda swallows the skull underneath which is a shame because that was an amazing choice! I love the black gradient rising up from her legs tho. Overall it’s a skip for all of them for me because I’m not really keen on the designs overall and they’re $270 Australian… so yeah no haha. Great vid! I hope Mattel sends you your fave to review!

There is a way to finish knife pleated fabric. If you look up, judy. By madame alexander from 1946 when new the doll has knife pleats and they are finished with a braid trim.

I do think the skull inside the head is a cool idea but I still would not pay $150. I agree with you that for that price point there should be real zippers and no velcro and an actual acrylic display over the doll instead of thin bendable plastic. Just seems like they are overcharging and hoping no one will notice

i missed your revews so much😭 also i agree with you… mattel should do more g1 dolls that are not skullectors… i’m 17 and i don’t have a job, when i heard about creepoductions i was “OMG I WANT THEM ALL” of course i just got two cuz they went costing 50€ in italy shipping included and when i saved money for the rest of them they were sold out, i only got draculaura and clawdeen, i really wanted frankie midnight runway but they’re 88€, i also wanted ghoulia but she was 60€+10€ for the fan thing and she went sold out… i miss having g1 dolls

Ok sooo about the Hemings. The shoulder ruffle can’t be hemmed because if it was it’d make it harder to ruffle nicely like it is now due to it being thicker at the hem so they have fused the ends so it won’t fray so easily and the dress is made from plisse fabric and can’t be hemmed because if it was the cleats won’t be as defined as it is throughout the dress and will just look bad

There’s no way to hem the skirt, Even the actually product it’s just like that. The fabric it’s meant to be used for raw edges. And the sleeve will be so bulky (not in a good way) and when you buy designer items you are also getting a work of art and the history of the designer/brand. It’s like saying a professional that went to school for a degree gets pay more even that it takes less time to do so. Same thing buying anything you are not just buying a physical product but your getting the whole deal! honestly I’m obsesses with this doll! I can’t wait to get her!!! 🫶🏻

Hi, i'm a new subscriber, and I absolutely loved your review! I agree with everything you said. I can't believe that outer piece was not acrylic. Funko pops put acrylic cases over their, album pops at a price point of $19.99. And the unfinished details like the hems and even the half jacket make it look a little .. . I guess inexpensive is a good enough word. Even though there's not another half for the zipper, they could put some kind of at least plastic. I think she's gorgeous, but the points that you brought up are very reasonable and should be the standard. I can't wait to see more of your reviews. You are very honest, but you're not ridiculously picky. I mean, it's good to be picky, but not crazy picky LOL. Oh I almost forgot to mention one of the things you said that meant the most to me.. They know that collector's really want the generation one style. So they put them out at ridiculous prices because they know that we're gonna buy them. But most of the time, you can't even get them now. They expect you to join the Mattel Fang club. Pay $10 a year to have a chance to get one. So no, you're paying $10 extra on the doll because? Honestly.. Just make them available for everybody to get ahold of and you'll make more money. I mean, I honestly stopped collecting. Because I'm not gonna fight somebody over a doll. You have a great day. I can't wait to see your other videos. I'm seeing a binge about to start. ❤

its a beautiful doll. But for $150 they really cut corners so that they make it with normal $20 monster high doll materials rather than trying o upscale the doll and use better materials for the cost.

She’s definitely the best one although still not worth $150 for me 😅. Maybe like 90? The rest of them are not even that tbh, the whole line feels overpriced when Off White isn’t even very interesting in terms of fashion. A Monster High and Moschino collaboration would be more fitting! But this doll is still spectacular and I love her face and colours.
