Hey fam I forgot one move. Fade Slash, to do this first land a single slash then swipe down immediately after. You will dodge back while doing a slash. Thank you for catching this Dale.

Another tips using longsword, it appears that artful dodger skill from tobi kodachi equipment helps the longsword hold skill to successfully block incoming attack since somewhat the longsword hold skill kinda count as perfect evade if timing it perfectly

I think theres another move you can do, when sheathed swipe back and release and i think u can do the dodge back and slash attack

You’re right Fade Slash

Omg, the fade slash opens into the much faster attack combo, just sheath or single attack into fade slash (swipe back), follow with standard attacks (tap) and aslong as you close enough and time it right… faster better attack combo

It's good to know that you need spirit gauge to perform the helm breaker without using your special, but you don't say exactly how. Is it a tap, swipe, hold?

When your Spirit Gauge is 3/4 full and your sword glows red, if you sheathe and dash into the monster it’ll do it automatically

I love the LS in this game it has the og mechanics when it comes to filling up the bar but it has MHW LS moveset it keeps you i. The fight with more consistent damage(not having to fill 2 to 3 bars), but i do wonder what if this is a similar moveset for the next main title; mixing both old and new keeping the gameplay new and fimiliar

fun fact, with longswords perfect slice you can actually cancel the stun from a monsters scream by parrying it!

Sadly yes. If you remain stationary, the amount of monster you encounter will be horribly low. You encounter more by moving around different places, large monster may spawn in one area maybe once every hour or so cant give you a real number.

Does the helm breaker only trigger after a successful Iai slash? Because it doesn't trigger for me by getting the meter full with just hitting the target with regular attacks.

No just do an iai slash the tap and hold.

spirit gauge, when it fills up it allows you to do Helm Breaker. It's a special Longsword skill.

you can do fade slash to evade while attacking by swiping downward on your 2nd/3rd attack sequence (2nd attack is thrust, 3rd attack is rising slash), you cant do fade slash when you entered spirit blade sequence (which comes after rising slash). Also unlike the other MH game where you can do fade slash back, left, or right direction, MHN can only do backward as far as i know

Tried the longsword and I think they need to give the longsword users a reward when iai slash successfully parries/counters enemy attacks. It's just lackluster. Maybe a bit of HP recovered will make it good

Usually in every MH is Affinity because you want the critical build for longsword

@@allyssonblacks8173 if enemy is resist/don't had weakness to specific weapon element, it not quite worth and better change to that monster specific weakness. Meanwhile Kulu LS is better raw dmg all-rounder than iron LS cause gave you affinity(crit chance). Also an affinity build dont need change every armor and weapon everytime you want to fought monster, the minus it very depend on crit and should had lock on skill gear(only had 2 items, kulu headpiece(LO+lv1crit) and rathian vambrace(LO+lv2burst)) to deal maximize/decent dmg cause any monster part had different def/dmg received. Meanwhile with elementals build you can just go unga bunga but very grindy to get every different elemental weapon types.

Restart your app, usually when you restart they'll spawn. Also make sure you aren't using any sort of GPS joystick, or any other 3rd party software as small monsters won't spawn
