Quick note: the 3rd wirebug is temporary which is why they have a lot of them in the maps. Sorry I misspoke and said it was until end of hunt, I was trying to communicate that it's temporary and note going to carry across hunts but I choose my words poorly.

I'm still not a fan of being able to replenish your items in the midle of the hunt. I would have loved if it was only for ammo and maybe traps because it does affect in a way the gameplay. I might be able to chose to not use this feature but what about newer players? When to use your items was another layer of strategy and it really added to the feelin of "preparing for a hunt" feel the old world ames had and the newer players than won't impose on themselves the challenge of not restocking items would miss in something they might have enjoyed. That said I love the wirebug, it looks like so much fun and how they are balancing things like the ridiculous world moves and the gen styles/arts. Altought now with so much movility I'm scared they will cut on the wind up animations. I also LOVE the map. really like how is the best of both _worlds_.
@DrowsyPotato3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to use that feature, you and your team can always just prepare properly before hand and just not restock? You can do the same now in Iceborne. I barely ever use that feature. I get what you mean that it means more to come prepared and so on back in the older games, but having the choice I think is great.
@sauerclout74563 жыл бұрын
@Flatulence The Unending But rationing items requires skill too, doesn't it? It was an extra layer of difficulty that punished you for taking too much damage and using potions and other items irresponsibly. For gunning and completing multiple quests before returning from the map I think it's a welcome addition, but having access to infinite items completely removes that extra layer of difficulty. You're fine for liking it though. Item restock is here to stay, there's no changing that and I highly doubt it'll ever get removed, but I can at least say I'd prefer a game without it.

@akaimizu13 жыл бұрын
Hard to say if it'll stay that way with all the maps we haven't seen. But at least this one isn't like World's maps where you had areas stacked on top of other areas, leading both to some confusion as well as the fact it often required a lot of traversal to get up (or sometimes down) to the other level. The new Wirebug mechanic and the new mantra of (if you can see it, you can move directly there) would alleviate some of the headache if a map or two does have overlapping areas.

I am also worried about the openess in this game and how empty it looks. For all the complaints about the acient forest in World feeling “cluttered,” at least it feld densed and like an actual forest. I think the devs overdid it a bit in the Acient Forest in some of the zone, but the Rotten Vale was well designed and one of the reasons it felt so great and atmospheric was because of all the “clutter.”

Spamming spirit combos (what do expect honestly when it's Long Sword's very core mechanic?) feels better than spamming the slow and clunky Helmbreaker with ass hitboxes and severely reduced elemental and ailment motion values.

I don’t like the owl tracking the monster for you. Tracking monsters has been integral to the series. The scout flies had issues (basically became waypoint markers) but they were trying to innovate the system. Here it seems they’ve given up on tracking. They want to streamline the experience so you get to the DPS boss fight as fast as possible. I’m sure many will appreciate this and prefer this. That’s okay... the series was heading that direction anyway, I need to accept it that the old games are never coming back. (I miss paintball lmao) Love the sub areas mechanic. It’s really helpful and seems more affective than hiding in bushes from World which was kinda faulty at times (in my experience). Big open map that’s all accessible is PERFECT and it finally kills the gross spiderweb pathing from world that got me lost all the time (especially in Ancient Forest).
@UZBYM3 жыл бұрын
why do you miss paintballs? they're kinda annoying imo
@darthvaderreviews69263 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the fantasy elements of tracking but the Scoutflies essentially did boil down into giving you monster locations for free already. Even if your Scent level was low from not hunting a monster recently, assuming your Research Level was maxed (which didn't take that long), all you really needed was one track to reveal the monster's location and the pre-spawned track locations would often be right outside camps anyway. (and it's worth noting the Scoutflies didn't really solve the issue of new players not knowing monster locations and roaming aimlessly, only highlighting locations AFTER players learned that information. Rathalos is a prominent example of how many new players struggled to find its tracks and had no idea where to start looking) If anything, I think removing the camera jerk and visual clutter of the Scoutflies, plus encouraging new players to find their own routes to monsters instead of mindlessly following the flies will be an improvement.
@Zharina3 жыл бұрын
It was a cumbersome mechanic to most. Tracking was an attempt in hunting immersion but the design was bothersome and unimaginative. Slogging through minutes of walking around searching for a monster through different areas quickly builds up after hours of playing. I for one am glad of the changes they made.

Keeping the camp restock/weapon switch just flat out makes some weapon types better. I’d never use elemental weapons like dual blades or bows if I didn’t have the choice to switch elements mid-hunt. Maybe a deviljho shows up and I want some early gear from him, so I go grab some thunder dual blades as opposed to water db I may have been holding. As someone who plays all weapons, I also love the option to go “okay greatsword ain’t working” and then switch my approach up with a charge blade or bow. I’m really happy the camp is back for general play, but I wouldn’t be upset if Boss monsters don’t have them. That’s an example where I’d want a classic arena-style fight.

You're right about the infinite restocking. I feel that after you restock a certain amount of items, the restock button should disappear. I'm not sure how the bowgunners would feel about this. Also, I don't really know what I would do with the gear and companion switching. Happy Hunting!!!
@matthewbailey27443 жыл бұрын
Honestly just limiting the amount of times players can restock would fix alot of the criticisms for this mechanic. Whether that be by re-introducing the transpurrter from genU and making it able to bring you items alongside delivering items, or through some other method. This also contributes to the changes in world where Farcasters got locked off to players in certain fights or scenarios. If restocks were limited from the start there wouldn't be as much of a need to limit farcasters in these High tier/late game monster fights.
@pensologohesito3 жыл бұрын
I'm over the moon with this game, especially since I've been playing MH only on portables before World. It looks absolutely amazing and I can't shut up about it. I wish they would introduce a new weapon (maybe a new support weapon would be really cool as I love that play style but can't like HH), but hey, balancing all the weapons we have is already hard. Hoping big siege monsters return as I love those in World. But honestly, being able to play this game portably is already going to be so, so good, that I'm happy with all we get going forward.
@juracan85913 жыл бұрын
6:11 This tangent on restocking felt so good to hear, I never understood why there even was a divide on this. On my 1800 hours of MHW:IB I've never felt the need to go back to camp and restock on normal hunts, just on Sieges like Kulve and Safi. And the players that do "abuse" it genuinely end up making their hunts wayyy longer than just bringing combine materials. To this day while playing MHGU or past titles in multiplayer I still run into very inconvenient situations where someone forgets to restock and either: A) Abandons, causing the hunt to be cancelled. B) Doesn't tell anyone so no one abandons but spends the hunt with limited healing / ammo supplies.
@Smexbi3 жыл бұрын
I must say, even in GU, the most difficult MH game I personaly played thanks to deviants and such, there were just a few quests where I allmost run out of items. Honestly speaking, there is just one quest I can actually remember, where it happend, the final village quest where you had to fight the 4 flagship monsters from Gen in hyper state & Valstrax. Other than that, there never really was anything where something like that happend. Therefore, I would say that restocking doesen't really make such a different honestly. When people cart in GU or other previous games, it's 99% of the time not because they run out of items, I am sure.
@ivory67383 жыл бұрын
While I did start from world, I do appreciate the other side of the argument detailing why infinite stock items are bad. It does make the hunt more personal and less "Oh no no potions, I need to get back to camp". For me, however, I feel this is a good move. Since I'm hyperactive, I have the tendency to forget major things. (I main lbg and I use a variety of pouch layouts for my ammo & sets for what playstyle/element I use) I tend to go into a monster match forgetting to change gear. I would have found this out after getting into a fight with a monster and going "Oh no, I dont have the ammo/deco gear I need". While I do have an SSD in my pc for fast load times, the thought of having to go back to the hub, change out one mistake, load back in and do the entire thing over again sounds annoying imo. (Which I'm sure Rise will have long load times) So having a camp in level will help me immensely. Plus it gives me the opportunity to experiment with builds without having to load back into the hub. But great video as always Gaijin and I hope you have a wonderful day.
@jankbunky42793 жыл бұрын
Allowing you to change equipment is perfectly fine imo. The issue comes from being able to use as many max potions as you want on a quest. I think having a safety net for forgetting to prepare well is good, but there should still be an advantage to preparing well.
@ivory67383 жыл бұрын
@@jankbunky4279 I agree, it has became a little problematic and overall kinda does take a little out of the experience. They could hard cap the items in the boxes into something like 10 or 20 to make it so that you can restock if you faint but also need to be wary that everything counts.
@FelisImpurrator3 жыл бұрын
What's the issue exactly? People who find them "cheap" don't use them or build away from needing them. There's not much difference between farcasting back to camp and stocking more max potions, and actively deciding to build Mushroomancer/Tigrex and just never going back to camp as you eat one full heal mushroom four times. That's also an option in the game with the same opportunity cost (losing DPS), and hunts aren't really balanced around throwing fungi at the screen until the monster dies. If they were forcing players to do it, that would be shitty, but there's no real objective case to argue they're doing that in MHWIB.
@pooftiger3 жыл бұрын
You have an option. I love that they've adopted that attitude. Don't go back to camp. If you do not like palicos, don't bring them. Set up a no palico room. Don't want blood, turn it off. Don't like yelling, turn it off. Choice is fantastic, but it's still there for those who choose to use it. Freedom!
@kylebivens36813 жыл бұрын
An item box to change equipment is fine, but infinitely resupplying consumable items changes the balance significantly in favor of high burst damage monsters to compensate for the added healing hunters have access to. If the box was limited to only changing equipment or item loadouts would be one thing, infinitely supplying always felt like a step too far to me.
