Another extremely important multiplayer manner I wish more people would have in mind: Depending on the monster, observant players will either prefer to capture or even specifically *kill* certain monsters. Either because cap rewards are better, or because carve rewards are better for them. If a player says "Cap ready." Then cease fire, because the monster is limping and further damage risks killing it. If a player requests you kill the monster, then do not capture it for them, because you're taking away their opportunity to get a carve they might need.

One of my favorite additions to this game. In MHW stopping to sharpen your weapon every 5 minutes was a pain in the ass. Now its super easy to slip away during a fight or do it while youre moving between areas. Letting us use items while on the Palamute has been a huge improvement for the flow of the game, you never feel like you're wasting time or stalling.

To be fair Palmut would make more sense (in American English) that it would look like Pal Mutt. But Palamut not only doesn't have two t's, Pala is just a strange word to the English language so we default to the weirdest pronunciation because it's a weird word. Pal-a-Mutt is just a strange and not user friendly word. Doesn't translate well

@@user-dm7ui6zx2u nobody's gonna agree with you on this LS main LOL JK. On a side note i do hope they change the LS and SA horizontals to not trip anyone at all, we know LS has great damage output, but i really hope at least they acknowledge that other players paid the same for the game and want to enjoy other weapons (I've switched to main HBG and GL now so i no longer have issues with LS mains, but i was initially a SnS main and getting tripped mid-combo can be quite infuriating.) Yet, that tripping mechanic was initially (pre-MHW) left there so that we can hit someone off of stun or sleep. It's now more of an annoying relic since players don't actually help each other out anymore
@ErdingerLi
@ErdingerLi 2 жыл бұрын
@@user-dm7ui6zx2u well i actually do think LS or whatever slicing damage mains should really focus on prioritizing the severable parts of a monster before anywhere else before moving onto the head, especially if we have an impact main in the team. But tbh, it's not really so much of a deal right now since monsters die so easily that we have to put that statement up that says impact mains don't have priority over the head, when in fact that is the case, since that is their de facto part of the monster to put any significant damage or benefit to the hunt as a whole, slicing damage users can always use the downtime of a monster to try and sever a tail or something you know what i mean? I don't see it as being selfish to leave the head to an impact user, more of accomodating towards the hunt as a whole, which have been nerfed so much that hunting a monster no longer gives someone as much of an accomplishment than one should have had earlier.. maybe I'm just babbling i guess

I can say one thing as a newbie, (I've done quick forays into the old 3DS games) that the MH community has been soooo incredibly kind, welcoming and helpful to new players. I used to get a lot of "git gud" from other online communities unless it was made clear that I was a grill and then it was completely other kinds of unwanted "help". MH has been soooo welcoming and helpful in a genuine way and I love it and just hope one day I git gud enough that I can help the next newbies. Don't be scared to jump right in. Dont hang back and don't be afraid to ask for advice. It's just a game and it's so much fun.

Another tip: Watch your Zenny. It's essentially the currency needed to buy things at the shop. There are also Points, which do the same thing, but for different shops such as the Argosy exchange/Buddy dojo/Meowcenaries. Both Zenny and Points can be used to pay for the meals at the canteen. And Zenny is used at the smithy for upgrading/forging Armor and weapons. Both can be earned by doing quests, but during the early game, It can be quite difficult to manage your Zenny. There are certain items which their only purpose is to be sold(steel/silver/gold/platinum eggs, The various ores that you can buy for points at the argosy's rare finds, etc...) the KZbinr GaijinHunter has a tutorial on how to make Zenny super fast.

 ❦ May I let you in on a little secret or hack. You can take advantage of the programming for the monster attacks, by dodging to the opposite direction when the monster first initiates its attack stance, as the monster is locked in either left or right, based on which side you initially were. (Unless it’s a STAB/SPEAR attack- more on that later..) anyways, imagine a line separating the two halves of the monster, if your on the right side, for example when it initiates it’s stance, quickly dodge to the right, as you’ll be perfectly safe, as the attack will be locked onto that side until it’s attack is over. Same for opposing side. For STABBING/SPEAR attacks (You add an extra section between the LEFT and RIGHT sections of the monster, creating and defining 3 sections), as you can roughly guess where it’ll hit, as if it’s a PURE STAB, you’ll be safe as long as you’re not stuck in the middle, for varying direction STAB/SPEAR attacks(such as magnamalo) it’s basically the same as normal attacks(L/R) but you add SKEW of anywhere between 15-60 degrees to a pure center STAB/SPEAR attack(or widening the 3rd section as such defined degrees). ❦  #monsterhunter #hacks #tricks

Hi! It's me! The MH veteran since the first game with 15k+ hours across all games. This guide is helpful. Rise is kinda complicated with the mechanics.

2:42 You know. Respectfully. I disagree with this sentiment. Whilst Insect Glaive and Switch axe are not specifically beginner weapons. They are intermediate at worst. In the case of insect glaive, its complexity dies off when you learn how the bug mechanic works, and it is a fantastic weapon for aerial harrassment of taller or flying monsters. Switch axe has a similar reach and speed to longsword with less 'combo success' necessary to reach its damage ceilings, switch axe's only real mechanic or system is phial, and knowing to hold off from using sword mode for a bit until it recharges isn't really hard. Charge blade is the one weapon which I will grant the complexity warning is warranted, as it genuinely requires you to keep no less than 3 separate buffs in mind when using it.

@@YawnBlue Then don't play an RPG, or just go play a little baby boy RPG like Bioshock. A good deep RPG should be so complex that even a month after playing the player may still not know it all, and the game could still be adding new mechanics many hours in. I would hate to see you try Pathfinder Kingmaker lol. These are not games people learn fast, they put many hours into them and overtime they become second nature.

@@Particle_Ghost Whew. That's a needlessly aggressive comment. I guess I should have /s 'd? Most of what I play are RPGs. Turn based RPGs, so plenty of menus there, but still!

@@YawnBlue Turn based RPGs are normally not as deep and the combat is more relaxed. Deepest turn based I have ever played is Divinity 1 and 2, unless you count Civilization. Divinity can be learned rather fast but not Civilization.

I am originally a Dauntless player. My god they are the same fucking games. Clearly Dauntless is the wish, free version of Monster Hunter with a whole lot less features but I'm glad I played it, because the hunting part is probably gonna go a whole lot smoother than it would if I was a total noob at this. Awesome vid, cheers man

Legit I started playing World entirely based on seeing Pat and Griffin's streams from years back and now MH is one of my favourite series of all time. I still watch the streams on an embarrassingly consistent basis - it's the hyperfixation that MH really does lend itself to. My friend got me Rise last week and I just finished the main story tonight - as Griffin said, I'm "deep in that post-game grind".

This is my first MH game. So far I'm enjoying it and can easily see myself becoming VERY into it, but only if I can get decent at the game lol. I have to say that it seems very intimidating still and there's a lot to learn. Also, I feel like the in-game tutorials and explanations could be a lot better. But I know MH fans are crazy about it, so I'll keep pushing.

Old gamer here but new to Monster Hunter universe... tried before in PSP (Freedom Unite and Portable 3rd) and I never understood the hype with it, so I let Monster Hunter World (for PC) pass by... Now I'm tring to get into Rise. After a couple of hours, I'm still not into it. And after watching some videos, this is the first I think it's most compheensive (and basic... ) for newcomers... going to give Rise another chance!

As a greatsword main from monster hunter world can confirm. You need to know the monsters movement by heart to be effective, you are so slow and your attacks are slow. It's a strong weapon and I loved nailing meaty hits though.

I agree. With the hammer early on you only need to really focus on a couple weapon combos and you'll be fine. It gives you more time to focus on the monster's behavior and attacks as you're charging your hammer

PSA: Assume for most multiplayer quests that your team is aiming to kill, not capture, unless the party specifies to capture for this quest. Some rare items for monsters are either greatly reduced in percentage of dropping or flat-out unavailable when capturing; Other rare items are the reverse for killing. Exceptions would probably be: You’re all in the last life before failing the quest and can guarantee a success by capturing, you’re planning on getting rare drops specifically obtained by capturing, or someone “carted” right before the monster is about to die and won’t be able to come back in time to loot the corpse.
