Meta GL shelling type This Speedrun features a very new meta way to play wide gunlance shelling only using Erupting Cannon. This will more powerful the moment I find how to unlock Bullet Barrage and Level 8 shell type.

Nice, this is the exact setup I've been running through all of Sunbreak with. Erupting cannon feels so good with wide shelling and guard reload. Was happy to see it's actually a strong option for pure shelling and not just something you'd use only to get the 30% buff to melee.

What's the use of Cannon for wide if you're not meleeing? Or is it because the damage and speed itself is good?

@@s07195 Yeah, the attack itself is good. The shell portion alone does around 2.3x more damage than an uncharged wide shell, it's quick to activate with a short recovery, it can KO on a wide gunlance, and you can continue your combo after using it.

The gunlance is such a well designed weapon in Sunbreak. It has a variety of viable playstyles with all of its switch skills now, I love it.

I actually found this out myself yesterday when fighting daimiyo. Was shelling only cause I was so happy seeing 100dmg with a wide 5 gunlance haha.

Yeah, I knew wide shells felt much better now. I've been fiddling with them because I find burst playstyle a little boring nowadays. Are charged shells really not worth it? I still use my HR stunlance build and it's holding up alright for now

There is a skill called Charged Master that I must try to see if it buffs somehow charged shells that I hope it does at least buff poison pokes. Otherwise, the problem is that if you are going to charge shells, a poke shell does the same damage or more, specially with the 30% bonus of erupting.

thanks for tutorial. Since progressing into MR, I have to change the playstyle to poke shelling because all the monsters hit hard and act faster. Now i know how should i play and what weapon should i craft.

This looks interesting. I've always wanted to try out a Wide shelling style. Is using all shelling better than poke shelling in general, or just for this match up?

It will always depend of hitzones and the build you are using. This ignores hitzones and you can use almost any set to fight the monsters and don't have to worry much about hitzones. I find that having higher guard or defense and focusing in dealing damage makes monsters dead faster than playing a meta set badly.

So what is the bread and butter combo for wide gunlance trying to go poke shell? There so much thing to gunlance I feel overwhelmed trying to use it, so putting it aside till more information is out :( With the erupting cannon buff, wouldnt it be more of a slap lance than ever?

So this works specifically with Fanged Beast exploit, does it also work with the other exploit skills for other matchups? Hoping it does because I wanna keep using GL but Normal is a little too frustrating on some monsters, and Smack gets a little stale.

Yea, I’ve found myself getting caught by allot of stuff because of how much animation commitment the full burst combo takes.

If you are having trouble finding openings for full burst as it goes in master ranks of mh. there are options to deal with it. Rise lets us spam wyvern fire because of hail cutter now, also it can be used to block attacks after a fullburst, a safety net if you will. so you can opt to exculisivly use wyvern fire as main form of attacking or keep it as protection. Also normal and long's fullburst 'should' be much more reliable when you get the new silkbind move for it, it will let you escape after fullbursting. I haven't gotten to that point yet so I might be missing a mechanic of the move that makes it different than other silkmoves after fullburst but it should work. Guard edge does to an extent too, but in sunbreak I'm finding many monsters with random multihits which is bad news for counters.

Started using them because the power to spawn wirebugs. They damage is pretty decent and the powers stagger monsters. I don't know with MR if palamutes are much better, I'm just sticking with what I have been using.

I'm looking for some confirmation here, there are KO sound/visual effects on EC for Wide, right? Couldn't get a stun against the training toad for the life of me so I think it's a bug, but maybe I'm just going insane and seeing things that aren't there.

I don't know anything about meta GL but I use MR Bazel set and the Bazel GL with a few decos for comfort. Is that okay???

While both bazel and heavy knight sets are nice, I prefer to mix and match pieces to get stuff like kushala blessing or lifesteal on wounded parts.

Wide 5 you can use any HR. So far I havent found other but there are more and stronger

Gunlance is so fun in SB. I've always been a long shelling guy, but it gets boring. Wide with the erupting cannon and guard reload is so much fun. From what I've seen, I can't wait to unlock bullet barrage. It looks so satisfying.

You can but it’d be more effective with wide shelling.

Yes and it is one of long's best tools over normal to be like normal's high damaging fullburst and wide's quick burst damage at the same time but slightly less damage for both, when you can't get an opening for fullbursts which is pretty common in masterrank you get to shellpoke.

You can but will not be as effective as using wide. But you will compensate it with more options like a stronger Wyvern fire or stake.
