It looks like the subtitles are the direct translation, and the dub uses slightly different dialog to better match timing and mouth movements.

It throws me a bit that the subtitles use Rathalos, the English name, while the English dub uses Leolias, the Japanese name.

I'm commenting for reach- I want as many people as possible to watch this! I'm sure it's too "kiddy" for some people, but the character development and struggles throughout the series are very well done and it does eventually develop a more serious tone. This is my personal favorite series that I've ever seen. Please support this, maybe they'll make a season 3 that's set after Wings of Ruin, and that would be amazing!!!

I remember the first time that we got the original Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS, and I never heard of the anime until like years ago (not recently, it was distant), and I can't believe the episodes were awesome and I'm thinking of rewatching the series again. The updated version on the PS4 and PS5 are great since they now have voice acting, and I love it. My favorite monsters are the Royal Ludroth and the Tobi-Kadachi

Kodomo genre is literally made for children. It would be like watching 'Bluey' or 'My Little Pony' as an adult, then complaining the show is too kiddy. I'm not knocking it. I'm actually glad they made another anime that can be enjoyed by both parents and children together.... or even by lone adults. A good story is a good story, no matter the viewer's age. I only wish the subtitles matched the spoken words, since playing the English subs with English language is a chance to passively promote literacy. I just hope the DvD versions have subtitles that match more closely. I recently bought them for household viewing without the web, so doing my part. ;)

They temporarily made the First season of the Anime available and it was pretty good. Then some corporate bs happened and it was ripped away, with season 2 denied for localization for no good reason. Maybe actually let people watch it this time?? Something tells me they are only going to share a few episodes to advertise the game, then rip it all away again.

Capcom did the same with Mega Man NT Warrior, sadly. I was able to watch the first season, although the quality was not great. They should just remaster and release these cozy shows on blu-ray!

I remember during the time when Season 1 was airing in Japan, they announced they were making more episodes past the supposed 48 episode plan to coincide with an update to the game. I thought the dub stopped because they only planned to do the first 48 and that's it.

Unless I am mistaken, you can't even stream season 1 in western territories any more. At least ... other than these few episodes now.

My best friend and room mate gave me his copy of MH Stories, and I have yet to play it, but I'm thinking about booting it up in the near future to experience the original game before I get the remaster. I also watched this anime years ago, and fell in love with the characters. The story was amazing. I highly recommend MH fans to give this anime and the remake of the game a shot. RIDE ON!!

If 3rd one is made, please also make riders and their monstie from Monster Hunter Rider to be part of the MHST please. I missed that game and hope to see more Riders to interact with the protagonist, they can act as "gym" leader and then companions while still retain monster boss as gatekeepers. It is awesome to see them in a new game
