I love how his wings have a very metallic sound to them, it’s almost as if they’re grinding with every flap, very fitting to his overall theme of electricity given that metal conducts lightning very well!

The wing tip organs instantly glasses the sand whenever he does his wing slam move or scrapes it into the dune. That 'glass' is what's making the grinding noises with each flap

I love his sound design. I just think the grinding sound every time it flies feels a bit too much, but i just don’t understand where it comes from.

I can help you there. When it drags its wings/tail through the sand, the heat of its electricity causes it to melt the sand into glass which then sticks to its wings, resulting in a wind chime sound coming from its wings and tail whenever they're swung around and that distinct shrieking noise when it flies. It's not grinding, rather the wind blowing against the jagged glass attacked to its claws. I'm absolutely fascinated by it!
