Hey everyone, thanks so much for all the comments on the video! We wanted to take a moment to clarify a few points that came up in the discussion. First, regarding speedrun rankings. While they’re not the ultimate measure of how a weapon should be balanced, as they focus on specific, optimized runs that a majority of the player base won’t experience, they’re still one of the best metrics we have unless or until Capcom releases broader player data. On the topic of the Long Sword, when we mentioned “haters,” we were specifically referring to individuals engaging in online discourse with the intent to target and harass others, not those offering general and constructive criticism about the weapon. Constructive feedback is always valid and welcome! We also pointed out that there are a few aspects of the Long Sword that feel slightly overtuned compared to other weapons, particularly its ease of use and hyper armor mechanics. That said, we understand the concerns raised about the “ease of use” argument. While the Long Sword has certainly become easier to use over the years, other weapons in Wilds such as the Bow, Gunlance, and others with counter-heavy playstyles offer similar ease-of-use benefits. For example, the Gunlance can output insane burst damage and has a cancelable guard point reload from most moves. Comparing the two, the Long Sword’s counters require at least some gauge to perform, whereas the Gunlance can achieve similar results by simply reloading and guarding. We hope this clears up any confusion and provides more context! As always, we appreciate the feedback and discussion. it’s a big part of what makes the community great. Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts!

Bow would be the better comparison as Gunlance firstly doesnt have the mobility. Its not cancelable guard but an easily accessible guard. And Gunlance attacks are a bit on the slow side, the wyvern burst fire(i think thats the name) has a very long uncancellable animation. Bows on the other side doesnt really have any drawbacks beside stamina management which is now a lot easier because of the perfect dodge(dont know the name). And its pretty much the same with sword gauge management
@ArekkzGaming9 күн бұрын
The Gunlance also has notable mobility through its moving Wide Sweep. By "cancelable," we’re specifically referring to the ability to transition into it from other moves, not the guard itself. Additionally, after executing a Perfect Guard with the Gunlance, you gain access to a much faster Wyvernfire giving it huge damage. The Gunlance in wilds is not slow at all when outputting damage You can see examples of this stuff in action here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5-YdGCqpc2rmNU
@zrevi59189 күн бұрын
@@ArekkzGaming well if thats what you mean to "cancelable" then thats alright. I think there's just a better term to it rather than "cancelable". On mobility, it's not like it's a light weapon where it can run and roll. Yes, it's more mobile because of attack but because it's an attack it is still a lot more vulnerable than light weapons. Slow as in long animations. Honestly this changes are long due. Gunlance for me is one of the most difficult weapons to learn. It has a big ass shield but pretty much relies on sidestep and hops. These changes made it so that you still get the mobility but get to use the shield.

Lance in Wilds had several smaller problems here and there that made it if feel akward to use and need to be adressed -> Mobility nerfed, so it was really slow (mainly guard advance+leaping thrust and the charge run) -> a lot of moves had way more animation commitment now -> some counters like follow up rush and payback thrust felt akward to use -> some balancing issues between different Lance moves (perfect guard not having as much of an reward as powerguard) -> pertty much no new/returning flashy moves ( A new version of clutchclaw counter or corkscrew jab for example) -> the damage/hunt times being overall really bad compared to other weapons. However i think lance has a more overarching problem with weapon identity. Other weapons got way better at countering/guarding (some arguably better than lance). Focus mode makes every weapon better at preccission. And a lot of other weapons can now play pretty much as aggressivly as lance can (especiall with lance's nerfed gap closing tools) Every weapon needs a unique theme: GL=explosions, HH=songs, GS=big single hits, IG=aerial combat...etc And while lance still has a theme, it's just no longer unique, which is why i really hoped/hope they will add something new on top of lances counter/stand your ground playstlye for lance's kit to focus around Still think drill attacks would have been a great new gimick for lance. It already had them: aerial lance's attack, corckscrew jab or drill running into a monster that is on the ground...etc. They could easily be implemented without being to intrsusive to lance's current way of playing. And they have a "coolness" factor which makes them stick out and makes it easier for people to start associating Lance with drilling attacks. Heck for most lance's it would acutally be easy to give them an actual spinning animation, by just spinning eveything except for the hilt or spinning just the tip of the lance
@JE-nf2gd9 күн бұрын
Eh I kinda like lance because it's a very down to earth and practical weapon, in both its animations and aesthetic (depending on which lance ofc). Drill attacks would just be too fancy for my taste, feels like some switchaxe/chargeblade shit. I definitely liked lances position in world as the weapon with the most spammable counterattacks, but with everyone getting them you're right that it is making lance feel less unique. I kinda wish other weapons counters were more limited in some way tbh.

The friendly fire changes won't affect me negatively at all. I play Sword & Shield. You need an act of god and MALICE IN YOUR HEART to interrupt somebody else's combos with SnS. It'll be nice not to be interrupted by LS, DB, IG, Hammer, GS, and pretty much everything else for a change. Changes I'd like to see for Sword & Shield: 1.) Bring back the ability to change direction when backhopping from a roll. 2.) Fix the transition between Spinning Reaper or Roundslash and the Backhop. 3.) If removing the Upswing Bash is a no-go, at the very least, save the guaranteed flinch for the followup. 4.) If the last hit of Perfect Rush must always go in the direction you're holding the stick, just make the entirety of Perfect Rush go in the direction you're holding the stick. (It's really awkward to have to yaw most of the combo and then the final hit whiffs because you didn't change the direction of the stick at the last moment. It was a weird choice). 5.) We need some kind of feedback on multi-stage moves like the slope Sliding Slash and the Sehkret dismount attack (though, I suspect this will be fixed along with hit stop). 6.) This is a pie-in-the-sky wish: I'd like to be able to see decent numbers on my attacks well before the mid-to-late game.

Its a bit weird to look at speedrun times for saying a weapon is not overtuned, because speedrunners use the full potential of a weapon and what needs to be adjusted for a weapon is usually adequate skill floors and ceilings. Overtuned can both mean a weapon had a really low skill floor for the damage it does as well as it having absurd damage when you hit the skill ceiling. Sure, the charge blade is "stronger" than the longsword if you consider the damage output of their skill ceilings, but it is pretty well understood that for the skill floor of the longsword being as low as it is, the damage and safety afforded to the weapon is disproportionate and there, in wilds, exist very little risk in the weapon. Rolling out of helmbreaker or being able to foresight slash out of random situations is bad, actually, and so is the ease of spirit gauge level ups, in the same vein that in rise incentivised foresight slash above everything to the extent that spirit combo ans other attack strings were highly suboptimal for damage. A weapon is a collection of mechanics for checks and balances, and LS has been since GU falling into this weird feedback loop, probably because people liked valor LS and wanted more of that. I think world LS was fine ans they should return to that, but most things past that have been a tad overmuch especially since weapons like hunting horn and gunlance (formerly) have had much higher skill floors and nowhere near the same damage or safety, and the lance, probably as complex as the LS, is in the same category. You *can* buff the hunters into oblivion but then you get the rise issue of most fights being super boring and piss easy (visual spectacles sure, especially narwa/ primalzeno/ amatsu, but challenging fights were only hazard risen shagaru and valstrax which just had huge numbers and ridiculous combos) or even the alatreon issue where the fight isn't insanely hard so they added escaton to drive the difficulty up in a weird artifical manner (it's my top 1 fight along with raging brachy but forcing people to use element in a game with that bad element sets was a decision alright). Hunters need to be weak enough for the monsters to be appropriately strong but still remain within human reaction times.
@thadbanks73459 күн бұрын
But why is it not okay to have weapons with lower skill ceilings. Greatsword exists. It’s not like ls or bow had that high of a skill willing to begin with. Neither does lance really.
@Vexal509 күн бұрын
@@thadbanks7345 its fully okay to have weapons with a lower skill ceilings and floors, but only to a point. To use the LS as an example, its skill floor dropped to a dramatically low floor due to how forgiving its counters were while also feeding into its game loop so well that it made the spirit combo more or less pointless outside of a handful of monsters. It's skill floor and ceiling has also only been getting lower with each game since the counters are becoming more and more lenient. Reminder that in GU, which was the first time LS had a proper counter in a main MH title, the counters were more akin to CB's guard points where you actually needed to time it with the attack, and you couldn't do it in the middle of a spirit combo either since it was tied to the first spirit slash. It was a tight timing but very rewarding. In Wilds's beta however, the backstep counter is so forgiving that you have until you start moving forward to trigger the counter. LS also has a lot of.....design problems honestly. On top of the Spirit Combo having largely been more or less redundant ever since World, all the fancy stuff you get in red mode that was added in Wilds? Literally useless, solely because the Helmsplitter > Spirit Release combo doing so much damage that not doing it ASAP is a damage loss, both at low and high levels of play, and because of super armor you didn't even have to worry about eating hits either.

Sadly, their votes and voices count as high, as someone like you, so I'm always on edge after beta feedback session - some very dumb things can occur due to the necessity for Capcom to really sell this game for every player possible.
@theformation37818 күн бұрын
@@thadbanks7345 lance is a great example actually, and I did want to include it but original comment's already too long. It has innate clunkiness of use (the hops and walk speed) and it innately has a lower damage ceiling than the longsword by a wide margin. It is easy to use, but that ease comes with a cost of it not having a lot of damage, good single hit moves, and pretty mediocre speed. If it had the LS level payout for it's ease of use (see striker lance from GU) I'd take issue with it as well. I don't want weapons to be op OR bad, I want the skill required to use a weapon to match the reward appropriately, but in a way that even the lowest damage ceiling isn't too far behind the highest skill ceiling (I'd say like 3+ minute time differences in speedruns/5 minute in okay to good player hunts) because this is a PVE game after all. As for the bow, yes it has been incredibly strong and out of tune since a while actually and that is also an issue, I'm talking LS because that is what the most played weapon is. So is the LBG and especially the HBG for that matter actually, in fact the HBG is usually my personal selection for weapons that need to be nerfed. Speaking of GS, I think unless it's a draw slash build it's usually fairly hard to use just due to positional awareness necessary to do anything with it, and a niche build being good and easy is cool I guess.
@thadbanks73457 күн бұрын
So what would be the way you’d balance ls. Out of genuine curiosity. Like just a general damage nerf or tighter counter windows or would you just buff other weapons to even out. I ask cuz for me it’s always been a bout the moveset and combat flow and how it looks. It’s why I like gs, switch axe, and ls. Like if they do nerf ls by just taking its damage down im fine with that, it could literally be the worst weapon in the game and id still play it. Because it feels cool and fun to use.i just dont want the nerfs to be in the form of either taking moves away or making them unusable. And capcom has sort of a bad track record with overcompensating

The only issue I have with Wild's Longsword in beta was how incredibly safe it became because of the removal of the commitment in some of the weapon's moves which means Longsword can Foresight Slash or Iai Spirit Slash in more occasions. I personaly don't mind that much that you can opt out of Helmbreaker mid air and conserve your spirit level and avoid an attack that would've landed because of endlag... on it's own, not taking into account the previous stated issue I had with Wild's beta version. I've also heard people having issues with Spirit Realease's hyperarmor and Spirit Charge but I do not mind those at all and mostly like their implementation. The only change I'd give to Wild's beta Longsword is adding back some of the commitment some fo the weapon's moves had, nothing more. The damage is good without it being ridiculous like beta Bow's or Longsword's previous incarnations in Worldborne and Risebreak and the unique moves added here are pretty good, I do not wish them to either nerf the damage numbers or severely nerf the new moves. Also, the only significant change I'd give the beta Lance would be returning the Counter Thrust back to how it used to since I think a dynamic of using either Counter Thrust to keep the flow or Perfect Guard into Payback Thrust for bigger openings and burst dps would be great (and maybe that way making mid thrust and high thrust variations of the Triple Thrust finisher instead of it being a mid thrust finisher). Also, maybe slightly speed up the weapon a lil bit, just a tiny bitsi bit to match it's speed to previous incarnations (to be specific, reduce the end lag of most of the attacks a bit).

Honestly I'm a bit worried as a long time Lance player. It already felt really good to me. Being able to kite an entire doshaguma pack and live thanks to these changes felt amazing. I really hope they don't take that away.
@schmuckford10 күн бұрын
Fellow lance main, I very much missed counter thrust as it was in World. It felt like they essentially replaced counter thrust with a faster version of insta-block from Rise, which I was not a fan of. The ability to punish a monster's attack requiring precise timing with your guard did not feel like the added skill requirement was being properly rewarded imo. It felt like a nerf compared to counter thrust which gives you a much longer window to punish the monster, and with lance already being one of if not the least played weapon it didn't feel like a deserved nerf. If we had the ability to both insta-block punish with a more damaging attack in addition to the classic counter thrust, that would be ideal for me at least.

You're able to start fully learning a weapon from the very start, and your options only open up when your eyes sharpen, and your mind quickens. You start thinking "oh I know this attack, if I dodge twice, I can get a Thousand Dragons" (Bow is SUPER fun with stamina and literally any slinger ammo) or "if I stand here, and Wild Swing, I can slinger burst through Ala's rings of fire and hit a Morph Sweep on the head." That one's real btw. It's SO satisfying, even if it's not the most practical. Stand outside the first ring, facing away, do one or two Wild Swings (depending on when the attack starts) slinger burst out of the second ring and Morph Sweep for a cool 1k damage. Usually, 2 or 3 axe slashes will hit but rarely the sword.

changes I'd like to see to my main weapon types SnS - Buff Perfect Rushes's finisher, but keep the attacks for the first two parts somewhat weak. Don't want World's mistake of making the optimal way to play to be spamming the first two parts of Perfect Rush, but its definitely too weak for the amount of commitment when compared to other moves - Have Shield attacks scale with sharpness and raw again, but make shield attacks consume sharpness on hit like pre-World so we don't end up in a situation like basegame Rise where the shield was better to use than the sword for most matchups. This didn't get addressed until Valstrax and SB DB - Give a small stamina refresh when we get the Demon Dodge buff from the perfect evade similar to Bow. It's in a weird spot where we can't make good use of the buff due to how frequently we are at low stamina upon gaining the buff. - Give us a completely different Focus Strike Capcom. We are the ONLY weapon where our focus strike is entirely dependant on the monster having a long body, and since it doesn't really flinch the monster for the duration of the focus strike the monster moving also has a tendency to cause us to slip off the monster the moment we touch them. And even when the focus strike *does* work, we're placed pretty far away from the monster, a downside only shared with Switch Axe's focus strike LBG - Buff the mines. Since we can only have one mine at a time I thought it'd be made stronger but the mines are pretty weak now. IG - The forward poke when you have the enhanced combo needs to be made faster - Extract spender followup to the charge attack feels a bit too strong, but also feels bad since you often end up with 3 of the same extract. I'd suggest making it so it can't grab duplicates, but make it so you aren't gauranteed to get all 3 back, and then tone down the damage a tad. This would make the move still strong, but also makes it so using it doesn't feel bad while also making positioning actually important. LS - Limit Helmbreaker in some way to prevent Helmbreaker > Spirit Release from overcentralizing the moveset. Whether its putting it on a timer ala Wyvern Fire, or making it so that they no longer spend gauge and you can only do one successful Helmbreaker per red, it needs some sort of limit - Buff the MVs of all the moves with "Crimson" in the name so that they're worth using - Make Spirit Charge slowly drain spirit gauge instead of generate it. The fact you could do the entire spirit combo without doing any attacks before it due to how Spirit Charge works was nonsensical - Buff Spirit Combo's MVs - Make it so counters can only take you up to yellow, so that you have to use the spirit combo properly at least once to enter red. CB - Bring back SAED from neutral - Make SAED consume shield charge if you don't have all 5 phials overcharged. Makes SAED useful again without making it spammy. Big moves should never be spammy.

I think nerfs need to be less about pure power and more about identity. For me the issue with wilds longsword is by adding a ton of power it killed the combo flow and weapon identity (imo, obviously this is subjective), like being able to enter the I frame counters at any point instead of needing to more carefully considering your combos, same with the infinitely extendable spirit blade combo. Or spirit helm being super safe with hyper armor feels odd for a weapon previously built so heavily on risk reward mechanics. I play some LS, but it's not my main, so I'm okay with it being the strongest, but I want them to preserve the consideration and thought that went into the weapon, even if it gets a lot of cool stuff to make it strong.

Not losing gauge when missing counters and helmbreaker being cancelable is also so overkill to make the weapon too safe. I feel that they took the satisfying risk and reward aspects from the weapon. I hope they make the weapon harder to learn but rewarding to master. Lastly i cant speak from new player perspective so i have no idea how they feel about the weapon but to returning LS user the weapon felt overtuned.

Lance, I feel like there are a few key problems with the new Lance. First, it is way too slow. I don't mean taking down the monsters slowly. I mean moves that are faster in other games are lower. High Thrust, Guard Dash, and Lealing Thrust are a few. Lance is seen as the lasted Lance of the two Lance weapons. It being slower makes it less likely to be used. Second the travel on moves are shorter like our Hops, Guard Dash, and Lealing Thrust. High Thrust’s finisher move should be easier to access like the counter thrust used to me. I like a mix of Charge Counter and Counter Thrust. I like them both as they have their benefits. Like the risk we get from Charge counter and pay off but the easier access of counter thrust. Maybe make it an Offset. I do think Pack back thrust needs to do more damage and not leap yourself so far forward as it causes more misses than hits. Also give leapi g thrust 3 ticks of damage again Maybe make the shield Bash on the focus attack easier to hit. Add something being flashy as the Lance doesn't have anything that makes it look cool. Like drill effects. Lastly new moves for combos like a Shield charge option after Guard Dash. I have two examples - **Guard Dash** **{R2}:** Guard | |--->**{R2+L+▲}:** Guard Dash | |--->**●:** Leaping Thrust | |--->**▲:** Shield Charge | |--->**●:** Leaping Thrust | |--->**▲:** Shield Bash Or **{R2}:** Guard | |--->**{R2+L+▲}:** Guard Dash | |--->**●:** Leaping Thrust | |--->**▲:** Shield Bash (Press) | |--->**▲:** Shield Charge (Hold) | |--->**▲:** Shield Bash (On Release)

That doesn't mean it isn't busted in Wilds, which it is, alongside Bow, Charge Blade, and Gunlance. BALANCE MATTERS IN PvE GAMES! Monster Hunter is at its best when it's engaging the player through difficult fights, especially since you'll be spending hundreds and hundreds of hours doing them. If the game is too easy, then a huge portion of it loses its best qualities. "Just buff the monsters instead" is a bad faith argument, because that's way harder on the devs and also would likely lead to the game just becoming obnoxious. It's okay to admit your weapon is broken this time around, and needs some slight adjustments in order to make the game more fun for everyone.
@Bunnibunnibunni9 күн бұрын
Capcom has no idea how to do reasonable nerfs though, so I'd rather they buff the other 8 weapons rather than nerf the ones you mentioned alongside the two others (LBG, HBG) that are always the strongest. Seriously, GL IG and CB were all good in 4u, completely shat on in GU. Prowler "good" in gen, destroyed in GU. Slicing/cluster good in base world, never seen ever again in IB, sticky/slice good in base rise, practically removed in sunbreak. LS in base rise was higher than average for melee weapons (not even the best), stomped on in sunbreak. They aren't built for nerfs :(

@Beagle57939 күн бұрын
I think the important thing to focus on with the LS is more the ease of use than the speedrun times. Like if it's the #4 weapon in the speed run rankings, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to use than CB, there may still be a discrepancy there even if CB technically has faster speedruns right now. I'm not somebody who goes around complaining about literally any weapon in MH, because if somebody else is having fun on a different weapon that's just simply a good thing. However, I can certainly still understand that Capcom might feel that Bow and LS are getting too much baseline value for the effort required, even if they aren't the literal #1 best weapons right now. Bringing the skill floor up a bit on those weapons is probably a good idea.
@mrcrowe18489 күн бұрын
go to that chart and look at rockfall spam times. if you add those times (which there is no reason why you shouldnt, because rockfall spamming is a legit tactic anyone can do that isn't following some arbitrary ruleset) longsword is suddenly in 10th place for solo rey dau kill times- and you have to do considerably more actual "playing" in a non rockfall spam run which means it's actually harder AND slower

tbh I'm tired of LS getting targeted for everything when it has NEVER been the most op weapon. I don't mind them nerfing the damage numbers, it's just the stuff everybody complains about LS, the being able to counter everything, takes a lot of skill and risk to actually do, you're being rewarded for a high risk playstyle. If I were to change ls, I'd say the hyperarmor on the helmsplitter followup is a bit excessive, but everything else is fine, hell I was getting better hunt times on charge blade without even playing it well. 95% of the people that complain about LS I guarantee don't even play the weapon and don't understand that it's not the easy to use thing they think it is

the "hyper armor" for the follow up attack, is actually a good thing, because it makes this move less save for the player. you can still take damage while performing it, means you could die on combos or strong attacks, if you time the follow up poorly. meanwhile, lets say you could get knocked up while doing the combo.. ye you might lose 1 gauge, but the trade for that is being save and get some time to think and escape the next attack of the monster. not getting knocked, makes it riskier instead imo, because you cant cancel this animation.

For lance, Charged counter should be where counter thrust was in world and power guard should be the same input as iceborne. It doesn't make sense that greatsword can use a charged offset whenever, but lance has a non-offset charged counter locked behind a three poke combo. One of lance's advantages in world was that you could counter from neutral state. They need to maintain this and consider making it a charged offset attack just like how greatsword has it.

Friendly fire with small hitboxes are fun and balanced in my opinion. I agree that you should be aware of the other players and act accordingly. What should be removed is the wide AoE of friendly fire with weapons like the longsword or the Charge Blade. Those are really annoying and you can't really do much to avoid hitting other players even if, and that's rare on top of the problem, try to not hit them...

THIS ^ I really enjoy the hunt complexity of taking into account my positioning, not just "Slap monster do damage". I think reducing AoE of weapons like longsword or reducing which moves trigger the friendly fire so it doesn't happen constantly would be a better balance than outright removal. Still, hard to argue that the game becoming mainstream without veteran hunters to teach newbies the etiquette has made random fights far more obnoxious and difficult than necessary because they don't "get" these things (like HEALING yourself ffs)

It’s not like the other weapons aren’t also good. They’re just slightly slower to kill. Like if you don’t like ls or bow just don’t play them. It’s what I do with bowguns. Are they strong, yes. But I find them boring to play so I don’t. I hope it doesn't become another Rise scenario where they just take a lot of damage away. Weirdly enough, I still agree with changing some things about LS, like hyper armor on helm breaker was a bit strange to me. I don't get hyper armor on SAED, and it feels great to trade a big hit with the monster. As someone who actually bothers to play LS, I hope there's a weapon skill or something that allows for a 4th gauge of meter that can't be cashed out via helm breaker. I'd kinda like to see two styles of LS develop where one cashes out and refills meter constantly, and one tries to stay at peak level for as long as possible similar to how there are two styles of CB. Wilds will be fun no matter what though, I am just tired of the constant complaining of LS. It's like these people don't realize SnS back hop exists with the complaints they bring up.

that comment about longsword being "overpowered" is 100% because of that ratatoskr longsword hate engagement bait video. nevermind the fact that it was 10th in solo rey dau kill times and only barely beat out the hammer and the "super weak" insect glaive by mere seconds (if you include rockfall spamming, which you should, because rockfall spamming is a legit tactic anyone can do without an arbitrary ruleset you apply to yourself, and longsword is likely weaker when you aren't actively countering monsters, which you can't do while enemies are being rockfall spammed. longsword is probably the only weapon that LOSES damage when you're not putting yourself in danger)

if you watched that video and thought it was "LS hate engagement bait" when this guy has played and enjoyed LS for years, idk what to tell you. i don't even like him and agree with many of his points. someone's opinion on how a weapon should function isn't "hate." many weapons gain for countering monster attacks: guardpoints, offset attacks, perfect dodges, perfect guards etc. LS gains a lot more because it's able to cycle its gauge the fastest when countering with ISS. that doesn't mean it's bad. weapons should have different strengths and weaknesses, even if those weaknesses make them worse at speedrunning. speedrun times aren't the be-all end-all to weapon balancing and enjoyment.
@mrcrowe18489 күн бұрын
@@Jackeh47 "longsword hate engagement bait" is NOT referring to his opinion of the weapon, it's referring to him capitalizing on the community that rabidly consumes any content that can be considered negative about the longsword, with a title asking for a nerf and a thumbnail with a big "I DONT LIKE IT" on there. beyond that, i don't agree with basically any of his points except for the helmbreaker thrust not needing hyper armor. that's a completely unnecessary change that doesn't do anything interesting for the playstyle.

I really can’t help but laugh at the idea that LS is overpowered. The weapon has been in the middle or lower of dps charts for multiple games in a row, and yet the devs keep targeting it with nerfs to its damage specifically, not any other aspect. It’s just a pariah for people who hate the idea of others having fun or getting good clear times in their own way, rather than the ‘correct way’ (ie only X weapon is allowed to get good times). Sad that the devs themselves have fallen into that trap as well. Hopefully modders will pick up the slack when it comes to weapon balance, they’ve had to do it before.

Meh honestly, three weaker weapons getting buffs are good. Like Wilds beta lance was so controversial, in a sense of how bad it feels to use, to the point where a famous long term lance main streamer in Japan begged Capcom to buff or bring back certain aspects of the weapon from the previous version in his post beta video. It was just sad to see. The bow nerf, I think, is warranted just because it was way too easy for the dmg output which somewhat reminded me of the blast bow meta in 3G or U depending on localization, and that was a joke in terms of the weapon balancing. I believe that bow being strong is totally good. It's just being easy is really bad for people who loved the cranky-ness of the bow in exchange for the super high dps.

1. Longswords damage output, while still being on the upper end, was mostly fine in my opinion. What needs to be nerfed is being able to go from white to red gauge within one move (under certain circumstances). This will result in helmbreaker spam, which then also has hyper armor, which in my opinion should go, since it already is a relatively safe move and also cancellable now. Yeah overall make the gauge gain a little slower is all I'm asking for. 2. Bow even though dealing good damage, is in my opinion really stressful to play, requiring you to manage coatings which need to be refreshed pretty much every 10 seconds, and keeping tracer up, which is gone after a couple shots already (hitting tracer on the monsters weakpoint can also be tedious when it moves a lot.. hitting the wrong bodypart is an instant dps loss). Then you have to manage your "combo" counter and keep it at level 3 and on top of that watch out for your stamina. So overall for all the effort you have to put in, I think bow deserves to be at the very top of the damage chart, the only thing I would maybe change is the tracer arrow, make it less mandatory by reducing the damage multiplier it gives (should be more of a tool to reliably hit the weekpoint more than anything). Oh and I really hope they are not reducing bows effective range, would kill the "ranger" fantasy and we already had shotgun bow for the past monster hunter games. 3. Lance being at the top of the performance chart/dps chart sounds just wrong to me. A weapon which focuses so much on defense and is so safe to play should never be able to outperform, weapons which are pretty much offense only like db, ls, bow etc. That would be straight out overpowered. 4. As for the launching teammates with your attacks and bombs, I think it should stay in the game how it is, I don't see a real problem with it except from some toxic gamers starting to rage if you accidentally interrupt their dps rotation with a launch. If don't even see why they would take this system out, but leaving flinching in.. either take em both out or leave em both in. The only thing I would add is to disable any kind of launching/flinching/interrupting capabilities, the moment the quest is complete. So people can carve the monster in peace without the risk of a troll potentially robbing them of their loot, either that or make carving uninterruptable by teammates (edit).

This entire comments section is nothing but whining about shit no one even used in world. Everyone whining about the lack of friendly fire are the exact people who ran flinch free for all of World to avoid the entire mechanic anyway 😂

I'm not in a Walmart, or at work this time, but my wife just got a notification on her phone and ran into the next room. I wonder if she's watching this video too? EDIT: She's having an affair. Well, at least I still have Wilds to look forward to in February!

Please bring back simple AEDs for charge blade and nerf the weapons overall damage.

I cant believe im saying this but I wish the beta never happened. The amount of sweaty whiny complainy nerds that came out of the woodwork to demand changes that are seriously some of the biggest non issues ive ever heard just cried wolf and for some god forsaken reason capcom is listening to them.

Some compliant are legit. They just listen too much from crybabies that don’t wanna learn anything, lmao. Complaining about flinch is peak low-iq behavior.

I agree

I think some changes from beta were good like the IG change and problem with performance was highlighted. I do wish people complained less though, a lot of issues people talk about is without actual experience in playing the weapon they say is too op or is just regurgitating information they see.

Do you think MonHun devs are going to ruin their whole game over some excessive feedback? I understand a little bit of where you're coming from but I genuinely don't feel like there's anything to be angry about rn..

bowguns felt pretty weak in the beta.. lets hope for some buffs!!

Now tbf, Bowguns are historically the weapons that profit the most, or at least heavily, from well planned builds. To me at least they tend to feel a little bloodless in the earlier stages of the game, before you get access to all ammo, bigger mag sizes, and synergistic skills. But I too hope that HBG at the very least will get a couple extra abilities, or atleast a follow up for the power clash. Not having that is criminal
