@@KPlaysHere Ive been watching the damage numbers and i think we're good. Capcom stated in interviews they've balanced the weapons to where if you're playing right you shouldn't be massively out DPSd by others. I've noticed that DB was getting 4-5 damage per hit, SnS was getting 9-10, and lance was around 16. Fir me, SnS is a baseline, so the faster DB gets about half damage per hit at about twice the hit rate and lance gets about a 60% increase for slower hits. HH seems to be a bit above lance in damage per hit Those aren't across the board. Obviously there are moves that do more damage, I'm just talking about the basic combo hits.

Thanks for the video. Been on life support looking for gameplay... really hoping we get some good HH footage before Gamescom is over. Mostly just been speculating based on the little information/gameplay we have available right now. Was lucky enough to get info directly from another player who tried the demo covering the same topics you did in the video. I am a little salty about offset melody/the counter because many other weapons seem to have access to infinitely spammable counter moves with no cooldown whatsoever or access to perfect blocks/dodges, while HH's version (which is probably locked to certain horns) requires you to put together a 4 note melody first. Can't help but feel we're getting the short end of the stick again. Also hoping that we actually get some good base moveset MVs this time - based on commentary during the event it was directly stated that HH damage would be better, but the dev team doesn't exactly have a great track record around this, so will have to wait and see. Am slightly concerned that they want damage output to be tied to specifically having multiple echo bubbles down, would rather have better base moveset MVs instead. Also agree with you that it's weird they restrict the echo bubble buffs to the range of the bubble, which honestly isn't large enough to justify that decision. And really hoping that they don't actually allow buffs to carry over to other weapons, that would be a really poor design choice IMO as well. On the bright side, the chaining notes looks a lot smoother and quicker and they seem to have kept some of the Rise transitions between basic attacks (overhead into crush, and I think they have the faster backslam (not sure about this one specifically)), which I think will significantly help the flow of chaining notes for recitals.
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
I'm not too worried about the counter requiring notes to pull off, especially sinceits looking like Offset Attacks have a high stagger chance. If you get it, the next attacks you do to punish could easily be used to stock another counter. I'm not the best at plucking MVs out of thin air like some MH math geniuses I know lol, but from what they're seeing thay look similar to World's. The difference obviously being though that this version puts out attacks a lot faster and with a bunch of extra moves and sonic waves to work with And yeah, the bubble range thing is weird but I'm hoping we have an easier time when properly playing around 3 of them and/or using skills to help. In my 2nd HH trailer analysis video I compared moves side by side and it looks like even though the individual swings are all the same speed, the endlag between them is shorter so you can combo much smoother
@darthvaderreviews69265 ай бұрын
Personally I am ok with buffs carrying over to other weapons, as long as it's taken into consideration to make sure Horn isn't dominant as a secondary weapon. That obviously means Self-Improvement not working, but also if Attack Up XL is nerfed I honestly think that is fine, IMO it's necessary to do if you want to make Horn's singleplayer vs multiplayer DPS balanced. Echo Bubble buffs will also be nearly impossible to use properly without sticking to Horn. With just both those things I think the lost uptime wasted by swapping weapons will outweigh the damage buffs, at least in singleplayer. That leaves people using Horn as a secondary weapon to give themselves and the team more niche buffs like Earplugs, which I am honestly 100% fine with.
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын

Allegedly, you can input up to 3 notes during the dance animation for echo bubbles and 5 notes during the guitar solo focus attack. I wonder if it also counts as a performance at the end, such that you play all the notes you inputted during each attacks wind-up. If so using the echo bubble dance or focus attack as a quick way to rebuff midfight seems absolutely amazing. If not then its still a super fast way to queue 3-4 notes, leaving you ready for recital/encore right away. Either way im stoked HH gets to play guitar hero midfight, and thanks for being the only guy who actually knows HH well and makes content on it from Gamescom. I like how hh rewards thoughtful gameplay and not the spam behavior like in rise. with these changes, I believe that the Huntinghorn will be one of the most mechanically challenging weapons in the game with some of the biggest payoffs. I do like the counter being tied to the song list however, I hope it’s a very forgiving counter with a nice window, if not, then it probably won’t be worth it. I also really like how you can input to notes incredibly quickly with the focus attack . Encouraging the players to actually memorize and perform the notes through muscle memory. Most of the time when we use Huntinghorn, we just play the songs before the fight and every single time we have a break in between, but now it’s encouraging us to play the notes during the fight to get the most value.

The movement speed bubbles in Iceborne didn't give other weapons movement speed, but can give movement speed to other hunting horn users, so i doubt that other weapons will gain the benefits of self improvement Special Performances seem like they may be different between horns, just like the other songs are, which would explain why they showed a different hunting horn only for that one sonic smash attack in the weapon trailer. So it looks like some horns will get a counter, some will get the sonic boom, and some may even get different attacks we haven't seen yet, like the other stuff from Rise, GU, or the echo note spin.

yeah the thing about the hunting horn buffs carrying over to other weapons is that even if it is 100% true that all buffs like self improvement work on other weapons, that doesn't mean it's necessarily the most practical or optimal thing to do. That means having to constantly stop attacking and get back on your seikret and swap back to horn, hop off, play your buffs, hop back on, swap back to your main weapon, and then finally resume attacking, all while wasting buff time. It'll probably be a good combo if you have a big attack you're prepping, like say you put a monster to sleep and you use your HH to give Attack Up L to your greatsword as part of the wakeup. But for more general combat applications I feel like it's just a lot of a hassle for not as much of an improvement as people think it is. It'll always be more efficient to just have a proper HH player buffing the party
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
I don't even think examples like the GS 1 will be all that practical tbh. That first German Stream in gamescom, the dude just ran around barely doing anything with the horn and then he ended up carting during the hunt and he immediately gave up on the weapon and switch to another weapon. That part still makes me fume lol. Oh MAN! So many brilliant little tweaks! Crush was the one move from Rise I actually liked, and they've implemented it in the perfect, unobtrusive way. That little kick to knock the horn over his head from a rearward to a forward stance is DELIGHTFUL! Doing a Forward Recital from a neutral stance is also much faster in Wilds, which is good news for newbies. HH seems much more accessible overall without compromising the classic playstyle and depth. Actually punching in notes during the Focus Attack is SO SICK. I hear that you can also perform 3 notes during the Echo Bubble dance animation! Literally my only concern is the draw attack thing. I found that to be kinda clunky in Rise. But the MH devs have polished similar issues in the past. Did you see the IGN interview where they say they've specifically ensured that HH damage is competitive?!

As a HH main I'm hoping the buffs stay. If other people choose to use it purely for buffing their other weapon, so be it. I don't need to gatekeep the buffs. Being able to have double the song buffs to choose from between 2 hunting horns really appeals to me. Ever since HH was introduced I've mained it. Ofc I always pick another weapon or 2 to cycle through the roster, because they are all so incredibly fun. Horn will always have my heart though. Buffing and support my team without sacrificing damage feels so rewarding. Can't wait to doot bonk along side the community soon!
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
Caoslayer (GL KZbinr that's usually much better with their fact checking than the 1st person to claim it) actually did the testing and it works. Not for Self Improvement, but that was obviously not gonna be the case. It's less about gatekeeping to not want it to work though and more a concern about weapon balancing. Unless they boost HH's damage to more competitive levels, the only weapon that'd be paying in damage potential to have access to song buffs would be...HH, which just sounds off to me. I mean sure, it'll probably be super inefficient to try and maintain buffs without using HH 100%, but still

@Purpletrident5 ай бұрын
Personally, I don't care if Horn is just used by people for buff swapping. Horn mains will continue to use it as their main weapon! And in multiplayer, people would still love having a dedicated horn player constantly buffing them. The little bit we've seen so far of horn looks amazing. I'm so curious what kind of silliness we'll find in the focus mode strumming attack. It might be very good for setting off the echo bubbles while also setting up echo waves. It seems like it'll be a big setup weapon. Hopefully we'll see some heroes put up horn gameplay soon (and actually know how to use it haha)

I mean, I was over the whole process just listing all the necessary steps to get songs onto another weapon lol. I've watched this video maybe ten or so times now and I just noticed something you didn't point out (and I'll be covering it in my own video which I'm working on atm) but at 1:59 you can see Rad stack both a Note 2 and a Note 1 on the musical staff off just a Note 2 input. Technically you can do this in World as well but I'm glad to see it carried over. Since we know Note 3 can input another Note 3 (without the second attack coming out) I wonder if any of the 3 notes can input other notes? Such as the possibility of Note 3 being able to input Note 1 and the likes. I doubt that's possible but it is a fun thought. Man I wish we had this demo available to us so we could test the weapon. There's sooooo much theorycrafting I'm doing that I want to test like yesterday lol
@KPlaysHere5 ай бұрын
@@weismanwriter9426 yeah, the Flourish has been able to do that since MH4 and in any game it's been on HH's moveset since (only missing in Rise because it's not really needed for that version's toolkit). I generally wanted to focus on more of either the 100% new additions or some of the more technical things coming back that were absent in Rise. As far as note shortcut moves, you can usually input any of the 3 notes during the free window. So like you noticed above the Flourish grabbed an extra note 1, and in the German stream the Superpound got an extra note 3 (likely only because he was spamming XA though, it should be able to get anything). So now we have a note shortcut after a note 2 and a note 3 move, plus the Hilt Stab and extra inputs you can get from Echo Bubble Dance and Earthshaker. There's probably no note 1, since these moves usually have multiple swings per button press so you do get a window for the extra notes.

I'd love to see stored songs be used as a resource for special attacks, similar to the charge blade phials. You could choose to refresh buff timers or pull off one of the "new" sonic attacks, incentivizing players to constantly load up songs instead of only focusing on songs when buffs are off cooldown.
