Watched the whole thing, great observations. I started in World and have been playing it ever since to this day. I agree, the environmental stuff, the monsters, the story transitions... everything is just incredibly beautiful in Wilds. Long post incoming, but wanted to share my sincere thoughts as well. Weapon changes are also incredibly well done, like you also said. Especially because the gameplay seems to brings out the weapons' core identity even more. Like the axe mode in SA. Axe mode gives you longer reach, more part damage and high mobility. Sword mode gives you high burst damage but at the cost of shorter range and less mobility. Both modes should be equally important and useful. Neither mode should completely overshadow the other. Same should apply to other weapons' mechanics like Charge blade's modes and Gunlance shelling. This is something World couldn't deliver perfectly, but it did get close, for some weapons more than the others. Wilds seem to greatly improve this aspect, which is among the most important things when it comes to fun, satisfactory gameplay. About the point you made about "meta". At the end of the day, it's up to player to fully utilize the weapons' moveset arsenal, sliding attacks, the environmental traps, turf wars, items and most importantly weapon's unique gauges like arch-demon mode of DB, shelling of GL or charged sword state of CB. Using all of these aspects is a more satisfactory and fun way to play. And mastering them will undoubtedly make you a stronger, more capable hunter. Great video and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
