They are focusing on the new stuff with these trailers. They even tried to throw people off with the first teaser by making us think this was not Monster Hunter until the title appeared. They did the exact same thing with World, people were confused not knowing what they were watching until Rathalos appeared and the MHW title dropped, there wasnt a weapon showcase either, Great Sword only. I know we all want to see full Monster Hunter action but we have to wait, let them tease and show all the new stuff before we see how everything works toghether. They are finally putting the RE Engine to work in this franchise at its fullest and thats what they want us to see first. Dont judge the game when its still more than half a year away from release. Im enjoying watching all these trailers and info like a small child. On the topic of monster designs: Its all fine, not every monster has to be a lizard-like with scales everywhere or tough-skinned doggos or monkeys. The real world also has incredibly strange and alien-looking wild life hidden everywhere, even the most famous sci-fi creatures are based off real animals. And if something like Gaismagorm exists in the world of MH, why not smaller look-a-likes? Shara Ishvalda or Valstrax are way more "off-topic" designs for me tbh and i love both of them so much. Let us enjoy what we have and let them surprise us until release. If the game is bad when it releases, we'll make the devs know somehow.

I disagree on the monster designs, and I think they are really fitting. all of these new monsters are hyper adapted to the climate they live in, and all have differing defense mechanisms to deal with the sandstorms that roll through this first area of the game. balahara is designed to keep itself in the sand, and draws a lot from clams. it has the mobility and flexibility to seek out prey even if it flees to the larger rocky sections in the area doshaguma is a big blind rodent. it's got limited sight, but has methods of compensating for that, likely through being sensitive to scents or vibrations. it's fur acts as camouflage too chatacabra unlike the others, chatacabra wants to stay away from the sandstorms, and likely uses camouflage to do so. it coats itself in it's adhesive saliva to coat itself in rocks and stay out of sight while we don't know much about the new wyvern, it seems to be adapted specifically around the lighting that happens in the storm. the lightning it shoots out is near indistinguishable from the lightning we see in other parts of this and the teaser trailer. the new wyvern probably could also absorb that lighting just like the lighting rods in the environment. these things are weird because they have solely adapted to the desert. these aren't something like a rathalos you could find any where

@@tagon2381 why I called them dum* cuz capcom did similar trailer sequences like last time for MH world, showing only tiny bits and then at the end to release an epic trailer + dev discussion video in a specific event (this time at gamescom), and now some people comes up with the idea, that the game might be not finished yet...which they are partially true, cuz again, they are definitely in QA and bugfixing phase, because the demo comes in august at gamescom and then I bet soon a public version like MHWorld also we can assume that Wilds will be released in Q1 of 2025 like the other games (world in january and rise in march) since they announced the title around 1 year before it releases very often and again, I know exactly how turbulent the development is, which is why triple AAA games take years to be finished, and the last big release was on 6th September 2019 with Iceborne, afterwards a bunch of DLC came so the main team slowly migrates to develop Wilds, so we could assume the development started in 2020 with the full team, so they have 5 years to develop the Base Game & DLCs + Expansion Set & almost all DLCs + 1 year to finish the rest of the DLCs but again the main team would migrate to the next project alrdy while the sub team would handle the DLCs so to assume again that the base game is not finished yet, so they didn't have enough material to make a good trailer, would be just ludicrous. while they are alrdy developing the last part of the expansion set your argument would be only valid, if somehow they asked capcom like 1-2 weeks before the event and demanded another short trailer, even if the main trailer was alrdy planned for gamescom, then we would have this tiny piece

This idea that FU is "dreary and muted" is such a wild take to me. It was trying to emulate the natural world and had PLENTY of beautiful and vibrant locations, and Pokke Village still remains as one of the most charming and cozy places in the franchiise. It balances the beauty of nature with the dangers it hides. It may not be as out there as Rise but sometimes it feels like people are describing Bloodborne and not FU "Mainline realistic and gritty, portable cartoony and colorful" is such an unfair surface level observation of these games that isnt accurate in so many ways
@dertropenstein48977 ай бұрын
@@tofuteh2348 Wasn't FU done by the portable team? Of course its unique in the sense that it has its own identity, but MH1, MH2, MHFreedom, MH3, MHP3RD, MH4 have all tried to immerse the player to feel like a hunter in a natural environment, even with limited technology. Avoid, not evade. That, together with the information for the Seikret that "Its well-developed sense of smell allows it to guide you automatically to your current objective, or any location you select on the map." makes me think that it will just try to avoid potential threats on the map, instead of running directly into a monster. However, with the demo at Gamescom, it is absolutely fair to expect a showcase of the gameplay of that demo where they explain that gameplay and such. I will be confused if we don't get that there.
@PirateCommando7 ай бұрын
1:58, that’s a dangerous path to be on. Temper your expectations. They’re still keeping the release date of “2025.” Worst case scenario is that they might not release the game till late summer or early fall. Perhaps Capcom right now really wants to beef up their single player storytelling through the environment and in-combat because that’s what they think the casuals wanna see.
@chiefofspades7 ай бұрын
I agree with almost all of your points, especially the idea that this trailer was just an extension of the first trailer; I was at least hoping for a one minute explanation on the core mechanics of focus mode and the idea of it as the new combat function. The only point I really disagree with is that a monster needs to be cute. I definitely want some of the monsters to just be horrifying and ferocious.

I know as fans we're left wanting more, but the second trailer was to showcase two new monsters. A brand new leviathan called Balahara and a new thunder wyvern that we only get a brief scene of, which they have stated will play a key role in the game. I believe this was done deliberately as they mentioned that there will be a 3rd trailer with a gameplay demo at an event in August. So, it would make more sense for them to talk more in-depth about the gameplay and mechanics at that event with the demo.

Sooo hyped!! We will be eating good in no time brother! 😁 Personally I didn’t feel underwhelmed by the trailer (it was a bit short but I’m also super hyped heheh). I did notice that SGF seemed kinda rushed and unorganized. It was strange the there wasn’t just one Capcom segment, and all of their announcements were scattered throughout the event. Perhaps they just didn’t have enough time for the directors to speak like they were planning. Regardless, August is just around the corner! We will likely see more of the weapons and focus mode from the demo too! Did I mention that I’m hyped? 😬😬 This game is gonna be WILD! 😆

My first impression is the same as yours: *it left me with more questions than answers.* But it doesn't matter. It's Monster Hunter, it hasn't missed in 20 years, it won't miss now. I think there's a lot of overreacting going on around these trailers. They're drip marketing. There's still at least another 6 months before the game comes out, and they said they will be showing off stuff all summer (and obviously after). Instead of being underwhelmed, you should realize that they're showing the tip of the iceberg. It's not about how little we're seeing, it's about how much left there is to see. I also think the criticism around the monsters is strange. The Doshaguma look plenty like large monsters, much moreso than bird wyverns at least. And they look very similar to goss harag. There's also been plenty of alien monsters, including your favorite khezu, so it's not like there's a very weird thing going on with the worms. I think this weird pessimism needs to be toned down. Obviously I can't wait to see how the actual game plays, which is why I am excited to see more, not disappointed to see more.

I totally get wanting more substantial showings of the combat and weapon changes and stuff (I want that more than anything too), but we're the core gamers who care most about mechanics. These first few trailers are revealing the game in big showcases. It's probably the right call to focus on the environment and its inhabitants, as well as the effort they've put into making the story and characters feel more alive and invested. The cinematic nature of these sequences feel waaaaay less awkward than anything in World, and they present well to wider audiences. It sounds like Gamescom is where we'll get BIG updates on combat and weapons, considering there's a demo there.
@eggroll20xd67 ай бұрын
I personally don't know how to feel about these trailers mainly due to only starting to play MH since January of 2024 and I started with Rise/Sunbreak. My expectations are just hype for everything we have seen so far because this is a new experience. For veterans, I can understand if they feel a little underwhelmed, but at the same time I have heard the complaints of Capcom giving too much info as well. For now, I think it is nice to just see what we have seen and speculate on what is to come. Perhaps we aren't seeing a village because the village might just be something that we have to unlock parts of by doing hunting/gathering and, in a sense, build from the ground up. Can't wait for August and more info!

The way I understand the marketing thus far is, this is the long-awaited, much-anticipated spiritual follow-up to World with a larger emphasis on story and an unprecedented sense of immersion, so it makes sense to me that they’re trying to emphasize that through the first batch of trailers, almost exactly like what was done with World. They’re trying to sell us and new players with no experience with the series this immersive new world. I think we’re too early in the release cycle to expect things like in-depth gameplay previews that really only mean a lot to veteran players. I think we’ll definitely get some of that at Gamecom alongside the playable demo.

@@VadeInSpiritu It’s spiritual in that it seems to be taking the “living, breathing world” direction and a lot of the core themes and mechanics introduced in World and expanding upon them with ideas of its own in a new setting with new characters and a new narrative. I don’t think you’re being a moron but I do think you overhyped yourself though. We are still at minimum 6 months out from the release. They also said that they are dropping more information in August along with a demo (if I heard that right). The majority (or the very vocal minority)of the community has also been very vocal about wanting trailers to function more like teasers and to not reveal as much as they did for World/Iceborne and Rise/Sunbreak, which I believe is something you and Ruri disagreed on when you were on the podcast. Iirc it was a pretty loud vocalization from the community as well with some of the community team being attacked online over it…both times. These teasers/trailers fall in line quite well with what that portion of the community was asking for. Enough to drum up some hype for the reveal of the demo but nothing that actually spoils a big portion of the beginning of the game or even how the weapons are actually going to function.

I feel that Doshaguma and Balahara are very bland designs without the charm that monster hunter designs usually have. Doshaguma will be hard to recognize as a plush essentially.

@williammcgregor7150 I actually think these monsters are pretty cool looking. Yes, they're bizzare and not too flashy, but they're unique and that "uglyness" or "blandness"makes this new region feel especially foreign, even more then the new world. The designs also work well on making the ecology feel more realistic, varied and immersive. We all love cool dragons and dinosaurs, yes but not every creature has to be carefully crafted with toys in mind.

Something I really like is how it seems that your hunter will actually be important to the story again. At least for Singleplayer, in World and Rise the player really was just a random hunter who happened to be there for the plot events, with the Gathering Hub right around the corner and a load of npc hunters that theoretically were also available at any time. The line in the Trailer where they're like "don't worry, the hunter is here" makes me really hopeful we're going to see more of a 4U type dynamic, where you were scouted as "the hunter" for the caravan. Or back in Tri, where you also were "the hunter" assigned to the village. I'm excited to not just be a random cog in the Guild machinery, but to actually have my own purpose in the world, even if it's just a hunter for hire to protect the kid.
