When two lions or alpha wolves enter the same space or hunting ground one of two things will happen. They either intimidate one another into surrendering and walking away or they fight it out until one of them dies or runs away with injuries. If an elder dragon encounters either another elder dragon or a their equal they will fight until one is left standing.

My headcannon is that the admiral was tired after going bare handed vs a rajang and defeating it, then hears a thunder, knowing there was another rajang in the area, runs to it, just to find out the handler about to die and saves her, his age catch up to him and got exhausted, leaving the 2nd rajang to the main hunter.
