Exhaust and Partbreaker are really tempting. I never used SnS because of its tiny reach, but with the new hunting styles and the blade oils, it definitly caught my attention.

Oh this'll be good. Deviant Narga set+Narga SnS+Affinity Oil=252 Raw for 2 minutes. How I got this to add up? Well. Flash in the night has Flatline 40% affinity, Whitegale Spirit has Critical Eye+3 and Ultra crit bringing my weapon up to 70% Finally, affinity oil boosts my crit by another 30% for exactly 2 minutes topping me off at 100% affinity. The Ultra crit skill brings 1.25x raw for crits up to 1.4x raw so 180x1.4=252 Raw. or HBG Levels of raw.

These are going to be a real game-changer! I could definitely see myself opening the hunt with exhaust or part-breaker to soften the monster up, then putting on the affinity oil to go in for the kill.... the mind's-eye oil I think would be most likely used if an unexpectedly tough monster crashes the party or the monster has a guard-raised form, since I don't think many hunters are going to go on a hunt with a weapon that can't normally cut through the monster in the first place.

They altered the way the critical eye skills work so new crit eye+2 is old +3 and new+3 is Critical God since Crit God doesnt exist in Gen. I have a small calculation just above here.

I really like the new oils. I picked up SnS before playing MHX and I don't think it needed a boost. It was powerful enough on its own. I especially like the part breaker oil.

I don't even care if it's good or not, but it just looks so badass when applying the oil onto the sword I was already using sns most of the early/mid game, especially in solo, this is really awesome btw. are there now armor skills that buff the oils, like there are skills for bows that buff coatings?

+Aaron Zoom Yeah, Sharpness +2 is the old Sharpness +1, Sharpness +1 now just extends your current block of sharpness, while +2 pushes you up to the next level.

you are right but I just assume we, the people who don't have the possibility or just don't want to import a japanese copy, will have to wait till the G version comes out and be ported to the west... from mh3e and so on it became really easy to get the best sharpness in every game... I guess if there ever exists a G version of xross it will not be that hard to get sharpness +2 and purple sharpness

Where did the SnS jump slash go? Do you lose it in Striker style?

Between 3U and 4(G), the Jump slash was changed to a Lunge in slash. The only attack that Striker SnS loses is the backhop attack introduced in 4th Gen MH which is perfectly fine since it's useless.

+David Weaver Oils are SnS exclusive, and the closest thing to oils that other weapons have is the Bow Coatings (which got new ones as well). We're dealing with a direct buff to the SnS arsenal here.

Yeah, and "Destroyer Oil" is the biggest one; the US description doesn't say anything about breaking parts, just "makes it easier to stagger your target". Granted, breaking a part always causes a stagger, but you can stagger a target anyway with enough damage/hits. Not the same.

I was very curious about this as well. Nobody seems to talk about it at all. I just tested it out and it does work with the oils. It increases the duration from 2mins to 3mins, so pretty interesting.

Too bad this isn't present in world. Oils are just so flavorful and cool and really give SnS the originality they usually lack. It's still my go to weapon when I just want to turn my brain off and play mh since its the one I started with and has such a easy to use moveset and high mobility with the utility of a block.

The sns is definitely really good in this game. however, the hammer still deals way more stun damage with each hit and you don't need an item to deal that stun damage.

You can buy armor spheres again!?!? Well, I don't actually mean again, sorry. Ever since MH3U, you could buy ARMOR STONES from the Wyverian Granny every 7-14 days (hunts). that was removed in MH4U so you can only get them at a 12% chance by doing the low rank event quest "Sand Blasted". DUMBEST. CHOICE. EVER.
