Monster II Balance Wheel Installation on Ultrafeed Posi-Pin System

This large diameter wheel enhances slow speed power in electric mode. A real plus for sailmaking and canvas work! It also allows for handcranking when electricity is not available. Simply attach the plastic handcrank handle to the wheel with the allen wrench. The extra weight of this wheel and, therefore, inertia make handcranking effortless even in heavy fabrics.

I'm a curmudgeon, but I have to admit everything I have purchased from Sailrite (LSZ1 and monster flywheel, zipper feet, etc) have been utterly top notch. It's obvious to me this company has integrity and has earned my business. Thank you so much for the informative videos. One of the main reasons I decided to buy your machine was the fact that you have videos explaining how to setup and maintain the machine. I purchased my machine a month or so ago and ordered the Monster Wheel recently. I was dreading trying to assemble it. What a relief when I viewed this video and found it so informative. It wasn't difficult at all and took less than 5 minutes to do. Keep up the great work!

I must say, all the videos and presentations on the internet have really helped me. Although I may be an upholsterer and a seamstress it doesn't mean I know a thing regarding mechanical moving parts. I put away the idea of other industrial machines because of the daunting task of assembly; moving parts, tools required. SCARY!

Just received mine today! That was some fast shipping. Its all installed, wow, the slow speed control improved a ton. Not only does it look hi-performance, but it cut a half second off of my quarter mile elapsed time!

I bought a Reliable 200zx instead of the LZS-1 to save some money. Ordered their Cuda Crank and found it wouldn't go on the shaft far enough!!! The clutch assembly went on but the belt kept coming off. Call Allbrands, where I bought it, and of course, they had no clue... They gave me Reliable's number which I called. Got put on hold until the gal came back and said the Tech was still busy. So, I left a message... I'm still waiting for a reply. Damn! I wish I'd spent the extra money for a Sailrite! Don't make the same mistake I did. Buy a Sailrite!

You didn't change the belt in the video. Should I leave the old one on there for now? It shouldn't need changing since it's only a year old. I guess I should just save the belt that came with the monster wheel for later? Should I oil the shaft? Since the parts are metal on metal? Can you please explain why to remove the belt while hand cranking? Do I need to do that for random stitches here and there?

If the belt you had fits, then use it. Yes, oil the shaft with a drop of sewing machine oil. We remove the belt so we do not have to fight against the motor when hand cranking. You can leave it on and still handcrank, but it will not turn as easily.

Anyone else having issues installing the Monster II balance wheel on their new Sailrite machine? On mine, it seems the tension on the timing belt is so high that it won't fit over the balance wheel. The tension is fine with the regular plastic balance wheel though.

The only difference was the color. We had difficulty getting the black for a year or two.

Will the hand crank work with the original Power Plus wheel?

No, the Power Plus Wheel is too light weight for hand cranking, it does not work well. You need the weight of the Monster II Balance Wheel for hand cranking.

IF THE CLUTCH WASHER RAISED PRONGS FACE OUT AWAY FROM THE BALANCE WHEEL THEY DO NOTHING. aLL THEY DO IS SCROLL ON THE TIGHTENING NUT. tHEY DO NOT ENGAGE THE SHAFT OR CLUTCH.

The clutch washer prongs must face away from the sewing machine head so they engage with the clutch knob as it is tightened or it will not spin the shaft.

For the $1100 I paid for my machine, the fact it came with a plastic flywheel is insane to me. I only got mine because the "best" portable machine, but Jesus fucking Christ it's it as cheaply made a thing as possible.
